Member FifthAssassin Posted August 2 Member Share Posted August 2 (edited) I'm sure this has been discussed many times, but I'm just curious as to how many voice over actors there were in the classic era of Shaw Brothers. Fascinated by this since I was 8 back in 83...it often seems like there's the same 10 voices in Every flick. Member Omni Dragon Posted August 3 Member Share Posted August 3 Welcome to Kung Fu Fandom, @FifthAssassin. I assume by 'voice overs', you're referring to English dubbing? If it is English dubbing you're referring to, I think 'The A-Z of English Dub Voice Actors' thread, might be a good place to start: https://www.kungfufandom.com/topic/28665-the-a-z-of-english-dub-voice-actors/ As you specifically asked about Shaw Brothers, this webpage: https://dubbing.fandom.com/wiki/Axis_International about Axis International might be worth a read. Axis were the company who did most of the English dubs for Shaw Brothers. There's also this Youtube playlist with videos related to English dubbing: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL46k7U9atFC4XzIYPOdaT4lhY5QC1DMkG And if you're very interested in dubbing we do also have the, rather overwhelming, 'Dubbing information and discussion' thread: https://www.kungfufandom.com/topic/23780-dubbing-information-and-discussion/ 3
Member FifthAssassin Posted August 4 Author Member Share Posted August 4 @Omni Dragon yes I was speaking of the English translations. Thanks very much for these links, and the reply!
Member Omni Dragon Posted August 4 Member Share Posted August 4 You're welcome @FifthAssassin. If you have any other questions feel free to ask, especially as I realise the info in some of those links aren't the easiest things to read through structure wise. A lot of it is a work in progress. I think this is a result of info on the dubbers being difficult to find for many years, as they went uncredited most of the time and the history was rather mysterious.
