I love this woman, and I've only seen her in two movies, 'Come Drink With Me' and 'Brothers Five' although I think she had a small role in that, not sure... What other movies you would recommend that she plays a large role in and kicks some major butt???

Also I wish I had a time machine so that I can go back when she was younger and spend 5 mins with her alone in a room, would be awesome!!!! :heart:heart

There is a sequel to Come Drink With Me that goes by the English title Golden Swallow. Of course, she is still working regularly and can be seen in more recent movies such as Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, A Man Called Hero, Wing Chun and Streetfighter: The Legend of Chun Li!

Golden Swallow, definitely gonna check that one out, currently watching Lady Assassins... Oh I might've picked up that title already, (Golden Swallow) there is another movie by the same name but an adult pornographic film with a Flavor Flav lookalike and well, the rest is history, LOL...

Golden Swallow is also known as The Girl With The Thunderbolt Kicks so you might have better luck finding it. My 9 year old (who loves Cheng Pei Pei) watched Come Drink With Me Saturday morning and is pestering me to watch the sequel and, thanks to previews on the DVD, My Young Auntie and Heroes of the East.

Fans of her might want to get the Shaw Brothers book China Forever (2008) Edited by Poshek Fu which has one essay from her.

Here are the notes I took from that section:

[Reminiscences of the Life of an Actress in Shaw Brother’s Movietown by Cheng Pei-pei]

“In 1961, I immigrated to Hong Kong from Shanghai.”

“I enrolled, in 1962, in the Performing Arts Training classes at the Shaw Brothers South China Experimental Drama Center…”

“Immediately after graduation from the Center in 1963, I signed the basic seven-year actor’s contract with the Shaw Brothers.”

“Indeed, it is true that we were almost entirely ignorant of what went on outside of the Shaw studio.”

“One can still find this second residence hall, but, of course it is no longer new.  It has now been transformed into TVB’s martial arts direction department’s storage area.”

“Due to the social unrest that took place in Hong Kong in 1967, my mother, stepfather, younger brother, and sister all immigrated to Australia.”

“Even when I did not have movies to make, I would do voice dubbing or give dance lessons in order to make a little extra money.  I also studied dressmaking and took English and ballet lesions.”

Also you want to check out her commentary on Dragon Dynasty's Come Drink with Me (the second she did for the film) and an interview she did for the disk (notes below; edited for content; mostly took out Bey Logan talk):

Come Drink With Me (1966) Hong Kong commentary with Bey Logan and Cheng Pei Pei

"Big Drunken Hero" is Chinese title.

Talked about woman being lead, changed when Bruce Lee came [wrong; see Stephen Tao's book for better discussion of this]

Sammo Hung was rumored to be action director, this is not true.

Shaw Brother's uses three shifts (morning, evening, night) for shoots.

One of the first fights in an Inn [I would really like to see if this is true]

Pei Pei constantly corrects Bey Logan's Cantonese speaking throughout the commentary [both Mandarin and Cantonese]

Cheng talks about having to buy bootleg to see this film [not complete story, see other extras for better explanation]

10 Days to shoot Inn scene, 50-60 days in total for whole shoot

Pei Pei's real hair in film.

Lots of talk about Clearwater Bay shots.

BL mentions Mars in beggar kids [his head is so noticeable even as a kid]

Pei Pei could not star in Dragon Inn because of Shaw contract.

King Hu talk actors about film, editing, packing bags.

Pei Pei is Buddist.

Always used real swords which caused injuries.

Pei Pei speculates that Run Run kept library so long for smart fiscal reasons.

Pei Pei cut actor around 50.25 in film (Chen Hung-Lieh)

Regina is English name her English teacher gave her.  She used Frida for awhile but did not like it.

BL trying to get Painted Faces (1988) for Dragon Dynasty

Pei Pei born 1931, came to HK in 1949, King Hu drank a lot, Pei Pei had to help carry him on her birthday because he was so inebriated [story wasn't fully told]

King Hu does not normally show romantic feelings in his film.

BL thinks this is his masterpiece.
Run Run wanted more girls fighting (got that at the end)

Pei Pei talks of missing fight footage in the penultimate fight scene.

BL states it is hard to get rights to the Taiwanese King Hu films.

16m English (subtitles are also available, which are a great feature for extras)

Come Speak with Me: Interview with Leading Lady Cheng Pei Pei

Born in Shanghai; she uses her real name; immigrated to HK in 61, started training with Shaw Brothers in 62; 1963 started 7-year contract.

Dance is her life; since 8 studying ballet and Chinese dance.

King Hu saw her dance; Han Yan Chieh (Han Ying-Chieh ) was her Sifu, also stunt double.

States that drum rhythm was more like jazz than traditional.

Talks about Simon Yuen Siu-Tin being Yuen Woo-ping's father [without the Simon].

States that new type of Martial art films follow CDWM [I really need to see the Chang Cheh films before this]

Talks how Yueh got hurt with CO2 pump doing Qi Gong.

The Kids belonged to two groups: Yuan Jia Ban, Tang Jia Ban.

Says she does not remember Jackie Chan in movie; states that King Hu says he was there [this is a weird statement]

Only did 1 film with King Hu because he went to Taiwan after; Run Run would not let her go.  She was supposed to be the lead in Dragon Gate Inn instead of Polly Kuan (she uses Shang Guam Fingfeng name)

States King Hu was not happy with Shaw Brothers.

Shaws were not happy with her dress in film (nor lack of women; which is why 10 women were put in later).

She spent $35 to get bootleg of film in LA.

Some of her kids are active in the entertainment industry as well:

Eugenia Yuan (Flying Dragon Leaping TigerMan with the Iron Fists 2, she plays Blind Enchantress in the sequel to her mom's movie Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon: Sword of Destiny)

Marsha Yuan (Undiscovered TombMen Suddenly in BlackShaolin vs. Evil Dead). She resembles her mother and she is also a stage actress.

Harry Yuan was the star of a National Geographic series called Kung Fu Motion and is a fitness coach.

Here was a video he did for Cheng Pei Pei's birthday, sharing memories nearly 6 years ago

According to IMDB, Cheng Pei-Pei is staying busy.  In 2016 she appeared in an Australian movie, Goldstone; a musical comedy, Cooking for Two; and in 11 episodes of a Chinese costume action fantasy TV series, Ice Fantasy (aka Huan Cheng).

Production begin in February 2017 on Mediation Park, a Canadian film in which "Cheng Pei-Pei... plays a Chinese-Canadian woman living in East Vancouver whose life and family relationships are changed by the discovery of an orange thong in her husband's pocket."  Also -  "An immigrant Chinese-Canadian woman discovers her husband is having an affair, she keeps this to herself as she figures out how to make a living on her own and reconciling the betrayal."  Cast also includes Sandra Oh (Grey's Anatomy), Tzi Ma (Rush Hour 3, Man in the HighCastle), and Jessica Pare (Mad Men).

I just wathed the above clip, so, how many children does she have ? There are three girls and a son calling her " Mom ", but also a white guy calling her this way and maybe another Chinese guy, if I heard welll...

Ok, now that I know how to upload clips, here is one for you.

I had always heard that Cheng Pei Pei didn't know kung fu at all and that she was only a dancer, but well, this clip seems to say the contrary...

Cheng Pei-pei have 4 children who are all in the entertainment business.

Daughters are Marsha Yuan, Eugenia Yuan & Yuan Wor Chun aka Jennifer Yuan Martin. Eugenia can be seen in the TV series "Into The Badlands". The son is Harry Yuan Wor Yuk.

Maybe the other 2 in the video who called her "mom" are significant others of her children.
