He had a career in action films spanning just about a decade before moving to teach martial arts and do film and TV work in Mexico. Despite playing a capoeira mestre in OtS, Prieto was actually a black belt in Shotokan Karate under Antonio Marquez. He appeared as the pool opponent opposite Jean-Claude Van Damme in Lionheart and played Jeff Wincott's childhood friend turned rival in Street Law. I just learned that last year, Prieto was diagnosed with blood cancer, a heart condition, and Barrett's Syndrome.
