Member laagi Posted February 17 Member Share Posted February 17 Well critics are taking the piss out of this one... And honestly neither one of those names got me all that excited either. But I crave some good B-movie cheese so this might be the fix I need. Anyone already watch this and wanna share their thoughts below? Also the title inevitable invites us to poke fun at the movie I get that
Member AlbertV Posted February 18 Member Share Posted February 18 Should be the other TWO Hensworths as both Liam and Luke are in it. I enjoyed it. Pretty good blend of action and drama until the third act which is mostly action. Good combo of firepower and fight scenes. Milo Ventimiglia really shows some good stuff in the fight department. Was a throwback to 80s and 90s B-movie military flicks...just a fun popcorn action flick (which was the intention of director Eubank). 1
Member Drunken Monk Posted February 21 Member Share Posted February 21 Critics can have their say about this one but I absolutely LOVED it. In fact, it may be my favourite film of the year. A nonstop military actioner that delivers thrills, emotional weight and fantastic set pieces. If you loves films like Lone Survivor and Black Hawk Down, you should e big this one as much as I did. Russell Crowe is a nice little addition to the cast. It might not be his greatest performance but he definitely brings something extra to the role. Please give this one a go. We need make flicks like this. There’s even a fantastic hand-to-hand fight thrown in towards the end. Also, it’s not exactly heavy on the military propaganda. This is a throwback to big, bombastic soldier films of the 80’s. A great time at the movie.

Member laagi Posted February 26 Author Member Share Posted February 26 (edited) I think this was a pretty good movie. Heck probably a lot better than the usual garbage you get nowadays! I thought it was off to a fantastic first half. Unfortunately the second half for whatever reason it turns into a very generic action movie. Including all the good, bad and ugly that come with these type of things. One dimensional Islamists, guns blazing good guys, torture porn and a shirtless (is that in their contract) Hemsworth. Which somehow is upsetting because to be honest, deep down I feel there would've been a much better movie somewhere in here. But it seems to me that they just couldn't figure out what to do or where to go with the story and went the "easiest" route. Also I have no idea why the entire communications department of the Air Force (is that the right name?) is portrayed as a bunch of incompetent douche-bags. Last but not least somebody from production must have some real hatred for vegans! Yeah I get they are a bunch of lame pussies... Ha ha ha! That was funny exactly once put they couldn't stop to rant on about this dumb thing. Still given all these short comings I enjoyed 'The Land of Bad'; which I'm sure most will too.
