What is it with moles with hair sticking of them and just moles in general in MA Movies?

What's the deal with moles in older HK/MA movies? Is there any particular reason why they had them?

Moles carry meaning in Chinese astrology/culture. Here is a bit of a breakdown. Might explain why, perhaps they wanted to indicate something about the character's traits through the moles.

This was mentioned in some of the commentaries. It's just to make a comical character. You see its not just any old mole. There's an overlong amount of hair growing there.

You've got that cross-eyed character in hitman in the hand of Buddha too, as well as other films.

In the UK, the tv sketchs of the 90's or so took the piss out of men with combovers, so it's the same to a certain degree.

That's what I think anyway.
