Member AlbertV Posted September 18, 2023 Member Share Posted September 18, 2023 From the studios that brought American Kickboxer 2 and Blood Ring comes this family friendly martial arts film. Siblings Lisa (Crystal Summer, in her only film) and Jimmy (Lorne Berfield, whose brother Justin was the brother of the titular Malcolm in the Middle) witness an archeologist (Linda Blair) kidnapped by an organization led by Nadir (Joe Estevez). Thinking this may be the chance for them to prove themselves, Jimmy convinces Lisa to follow them. Turns out Nadir wants the archaeologist to help him and his cronies find some sort of treasure in a cave as she has possession of a stone tablet that could help find the treasure. When the kids are in trouble, their father and teacher, kickboxer Greg (Dale "Apollo" Cook) must come to the rescue. The fight scenes are actually quite good, courtesy of John Barrett despite some at times kiddie humor that's expected in this. There is even a kickboxing match in the film, pitting Cook against Tom Bloom, whose most famous student is former Power Ranger Blake Foster. Ron Hall plays Nadir's #1 henchman Blade and he gets to show off why he is so fast and agile. Fighting Spirit villain Ned Hourani also appears as one of Nadir's cronies, but Chuck Williams gets most of the comic goofiness as cronie Boggus. Member DarthKato Posted September 18, 2023 Member Share Posted September 18, 2023 I'm not really a fan of these kid-friendly MA films. I might have liked it as a kid though.

While Linda Blair is being chased by Joe Estevez in the cave, Cook and his kids go all out martial arts against Ron Hall and company with no Home Alone like goofs like in other scenes and the Cook-Bloom kickboxing fight is also a highlight with John Barrett making a cameo as Cook's cornerman.
Moderator Karlos Posted September 20, 2023 Moderator Share Posted September 20, 2023 This is my favourite of the "Family friendly DTV martial arts film that accidentally sounds like porn" genre.
