I went off the torture porn genre many years ago and just find it all so meh. The last Saw movie I saw was the one with Chris Rock which was awful. I liked it, but the rest just tried to out do the others in how graphic they could get. They got so sickening, that I’m just not able to watch them. But they dismissed that storyline, it was good one. Movies after that were dire and not expecting much from this. I just don't understand the appeal of seeing someone brutally tortured and killed. How can someone get any kind of satisfaction from that? September is lining up to be a busy month for me at the theatre as I plan on seeing Saw X, The Expendables 4, and Five Nights at Freddy's. Member Drunken Monk Posted October 24, 2023 Member Share Posted October 24, 2023 I actually enjoyed this one a lot. It’s the same old Saw formula except they don’t lean so hard on the previous films. This one you can watch without having seen the others, minus a few plot points you may be a little confused by (“Who is Amanda?” for example). The plot here is pretty strong for a Saw film and the twists and turns are interesting, if insanely obvious. It just felt like good old fashioned horror entertainment. It doesn’t try anything too crazy in an attempt to impress its audience. As for the traps, most are really good and particularly gruesome. If you like gore, you’ll get a kick out of most of them. One involving the human brain made me cringe and that’s a rarity for me. Really horrible stuff. All in all, sit back, turn your judgment off and have a little fun with it. Story is meh and the first half is boring but the last 30mins or so it does pick up and I found myself intrigued as to whether John Kramer will get his comeuppance not! The amount of screaming did my head in and the main two baddies sucked! I found it very tame in terms of gore and grossness compared to the previous movies. Would I watch it again. NOPE! But did I feel like I wasted my time? Not particularly as I was somewhat entertained. The blood boarding thing was funny and I found it silly as fuck! It also ends on some glorious greenscreen!
