Guest Argento476
How is this series? Is it worth getting the 1st on DVD and the rest on VCD? Do you think these will go OOP soon?
Guest deliriocaldo
depends on what you expect... if you're into shaw exploitation, you'll enjoy them, but, being portmanteau films, they're a mixed bag all in all. some episodes are very sleazy (nude in a box and the teenager's nightmare come to mind), others are more in a conventional modern-day gangster/kung fu vein (like the stuntmen, which even offers a look behind the scenes of a shaw costume epic). best entry is the deaf mute killer, the first episode of part two. a stylish and bleak drama, sort-of "neo-realist exploitaion"... Guest Stuntman Jules
THE CRIMINALS series pretty much descended into deeper and deeper levels of exploitation as it went on, until, by the final episode, directed by Kuei Chih Hung and T.F. Mous, the descent was complete. My favorite segment in all five movies, that said, is easily Sun Chung's THE QUEEN OF TEMPLE STREET. A very gripping drama. Guest venomchamber
Realistic in concept, surreal in approach, disturbing entertainment in execution. Get 'em while you can.
