Member ironfistedmonk Posted April 7, 2023 Member Share Posted April 7, 2023 Chuck Norris vs Jean Claude Van Damme - feel a bit wrong for this choice but I'm going with JCVD purely for his filmography, he might be cheesy as fuck but he has made some really entertaining movies Jackie Chan vs Sammo Hung - This one comes down to which style of action I prefer, both are legends and have made some of my favourite movies of all times, Jackie's action is amazing at utilising sets and props but I prefer Sammo's more hard hitting style, plus Jackie has never looked better than when working with Sammo Jet Li vs Bruce Lee - the first kung fu movie I would have ever seen would be one of Bruce's, easy choice Scott Adkins vs Michael Jai White - bit biased as Scott Adkins comes from down the road from me and I've not seen many of Michael Jai White's films so yeah, Scott for this one Angela Mao vs Cheng Pei Pei - Angie Mao, like with Bruce Lee she would have been the first female kung fu star I ever saw, she kicks major ass in her early Golden Harvest stuff so Angie for me Tony Jaa vs Iko Uwais - Tough choice this one, the first movie I saw of these 2 blew me away, Ong Bak and then a while later The Raid, don't thing Tony Jaa followed that movie up as well as Iko Uwais did so he just shades this one although Ong Bak was fucking amazing! David Chiang vs Jimmy Wang Yu - I couldn't stand Jimmy Wang Yu back when I first started getting in to kung fu movies, the guy is a terrible screen fighter, plus David Chiang was in Legend of the 7 Golden Vampires which I loved as a kid, but I've watched a few more JWY films recently and I think I'm starting to get a better appreciation for him and I think he may have actually contributed more to HK film than David Chiang did so I'm gonna go with JWY Gordon Liu vs Donnie Yen - Gordon Liu, my shapes era bias is full effect here, love LKL movies and Gordon is inextricably linked to them Sonny Chiba vs Ti Lung - I've barely seen any Chiba movies and probably 50+ Ti Lung movies so this one's another easy choice, I'm waiting on my Arrow release of The Street Fighter but even if those movies are 10 out of 10 for me Ti Lung has still been in so many classics I don't think I'd change my choice Michelle Yeoh vs Cynthia Rothrock - Another tough one, Rothrock made some great movies back in the day but Yeoh has the longevity of career and ultimately the better filmography so I'll go Michelle Jim Kelly vs Steven Seagal - lol he's too busy looking good Hwang Jang Lee vs Yuen Biao - Yuen Biao is one of the smoothest in terms of style I've ever seen, technique and acrobatics wise he's as slick as they come, but lets be honest HJL is a total bad ass so wins hands down Sho Kosugi vs Bolo Yeung - Cheesy ninja movies vs the beast from the east, Bolo by dint of being in Enter the Dragon wins, plus his no look style looks great Jeeja Yanin vs Kara Hui - Never seen a Jeeja Yanin movie and you've put her up against my favourite fighting female of all, this Lady is the Boss 4 1 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

His '88 to '98 run is legendary. Jackie Chan vs Sammo Hung: This is close, but Sammo takes it. His filmography and overall contribution to HK cinema is hard to beat. Jet Li vs Bruce Lee: Not a big fan of either, but for Fist of Fury and Way of the Dragon, Bruce gets the win. Scott Adkins vs Michael Jai White: Again, don't care much about either, but I respect Adkins. Can't say the same for White. Angela Mao vs Cheng Pei Pei: Can't choose here. They both rock equally with different strengths. Tony Jaa vs Iko Uwais: No real opinion here, but I've watched more Jaa so he gets it. David Chiang vs Jimmy Wang Yu: Dave is my fave SB actor, but I love Jimmy too. DC takes it though. Gordon Liu vs Donnie Yen: Gordo's got the goods on Don. Too much 90's cartoony undercranking drags it down for Yen. Sonny Chiba vs Ti Lung: Love the Cheebster, but Lung's impressive Shaw run plus later gunplay and character efforts wins out. Michelle Yeoh vs Cynthia Rothrock: Yeoh, no contest. Jim Kelly vs Steven Seagal: Almost sad to give it to one of the most pathetic, despicable pieces of shit on earth, but his '88 to '97 Warner Bros. run is pretty fucking strong. Hwang Jang Lee vs Yuen Biao: HJL is one of the baddest dudes ever. Sho Kosugi vs Bolo Yeung: Kosugi sucks and so does his movies. Chuck Norris vs Jean Claude Van Damme Winner: Jean Claude Van Damme- I like both, but JCVD made Bloodsport, one of my favorite movies. So, he wins. Jackie Chan vs Sammo Hung Winner: Jackie Chan- Jackie Chan is one of my favorite actors of all time. With Police Story still in my top five favorite movies of all time. So, he wins easy. Jet Li vs Bruce Lee Winner: Bruce Lee- The man is a legend to me, so as much as I love Jet's work, Bruce will always be my favorite Martial Artist. Scott Adkins vs Michael Jai White Winner: Scott Adkins- This was a tough one, that I had to think a lot about. I loved Michael in Black Dynomite, but Scott Adkins is always a welcome sight in any film he is in. His role in John Wick 4 blew me away. I didn't even know it was him. lol So I guess he wins. Angela Mao vs Cheng Pei Pei Winner: Tie- I'm not familiar with these two ladies. I'm pretty sure I've seen Angela in something, but I cannot remember what. So, since I'm not familiar with them (To my knowledge), it would be unfair to try and compare the two. Tony Jaa vs Iko Uwais Winner: Iko Uwais- I like both of these guys, but The Raid is one of my favorite movies of all time. So, Iko wins easy. David Chiang vs Jimmy Wang Yu Winner: Tie- Two more that I'm not too familiar with. Gordon Liu vs Donnie Yen Winner: Donnie Yen- Both have played in a ton of films that I like, but Donnie Made Ip Man, so he gets the win. Sonny Chiba vs Ti Lung Winner: Sonny Chiba- I love the Street Fighter movies. Besides, Sonny Chiba is the man, so he wins. Michelle Yeoh vs Cynthia Rothrock Winner: Tie- Might has well been choosing if I like my heart or lungs better. Jim Kelly vs Steven Seagal Winner: Jim Kelly- I like Jim, but to be honest, anyone would beat Seagal. lol Hwang Jang Lee vs Yuen Biao Winner: Hwang Jang Lee- He was, I believe, in both Snake in the Eagles Shadow and Drunken Master, so he wins easy. Sho Kosugi vs Bolo Yeung Winner: Bolo Yeung- Easy win for having been in both Enter the Dragon and, of course, Bloodsport. Jeeja Yanin vs Kara Hui Winner: Jeeja Yanin- I like Chocolate (The movie, not the sweet. Although I like that too. lol), so this was a pretty easy win.
