This family friendly martial arts film, released in 1997 and directed by B-movie director Richard Gabai (Virgin High), caused some controversy with its casting. The romantic couple of the film, ex-champion Danny and student Cindy, were actually played by siblings. Former Power Ranger Christopher Khayman Lee and Supergirl actress Chyler Leigh are the siblings who play the couple. 

The martial arts fights were choreographed by Kely McClung, who played the Super Ninja and a kidnapped Delta Force member in American Ninja 4 and made the $40,000 indie action film Blood Ties in 2009. McClung also plays Treck, a member of Kickboxing Academy's archrivals, Fatal Combat. 

And yes...it's definitely a cheesy movie!
