Member Yihetuan Posted February 27, 2023 Member Share Posted February 27, 2023 (edited) I read an HD version of this spaghetti western wuxia based on the works of Gu Long is available now online. Certainly better than any copy that came before it. The rip has subs in Chinese and English. Available to stream for free here while it lasts: taiwanplus.com/cinemafest Edited February 27, 2023 by Yihetuan
Member thegoldenstate Posted March 17, 2023 Member Share Posted March 17, 2023 (edited) Thank you for this! Over the past couple of years I have been on something of an old school Taiwanese indie wuxia/swordplay kick, and was systematically trying to watch any films that were based on Gu Long novels and/or scripted by him (I do love Chor Yuen's Shaw Bros. adaptations of his stuff, but these Taiwanese indie ones possess their own idiosyncratic charms). Anyway, I had been curious as to what degree attempts have been made to preserve or restore these films, as I had been watching solely the somewhat dingy copies available on YouTube. Big Land, Flying Eagles was one I watched last year, so it's cool to have access to or even just to know that such a high-quality version of the film exists. I wonder if there are similar quality versions of any of Chang Peng-I's films in existence. These films are truly unique and fun and I have derived a great deal of enjoyment out of watching even the degenerated prints extant on the streaming sites...
