Guest morgoth
Watch them all, tonight:p THose are all good movies, but I would start with Shaolin Rescuers, Crippled Avengers and 3 Evil Masters. 36th Chamber is my favorite out of that list, but the 3 I listed are probably easier to get into. Time flies when you are watchign those movies.

Guest BKarza
9 Demons is not a Shaw movie. It's a Taiwan indie.
Guest CLFNole
9 Demons is pure garbage, I don't know what Cheng Cheh was thinking with that one.

Member AlbertV Posted October 19, 2007 Member Share Posted October 19, 2007 I had bought three non-MA Shaw Brothers titles and enjoyed them: The Kingdom and the Beauty - 1959 Huangmei Opera Enchanting Shadow - 1960 ghost film later remade as the classic A Chinese Ghost Story Torrent of Desire - 1969 melodrama featuring Jenny Hu, who is the mother of current Hong Kong actor Terence Yin (Gen-X Cops, The Heavenly Kings)
Guest Winfred
Out of these 3 films, I personally like Torrent Of Desire because the late Angela Yu Chien gave a superb over-the-top performance as Chiao Chuang's bitchy sister. The late Yang Fan is also in it, so that's another reason to watch it.

IMO Nine Demons is a classic piece of cheese, not to be missed, it's bizarre and the dubbing is so not-taking-itself-seriously! Watch it right after Five Element Ninjas for full effect.
