Did anyone read the fine print on the casting call?

I never heard of him or seen him any films, so I'll reserve any comments about his acting. The casting is for a teenage Chinese immigrant who lands on the East Coast & has to deal with bullying and finds strength in a mentor (probably the Ralph Macchio character).

Correct me if I'm wrong but that's literally the plot of 'The Karate Kid' (2010) :laugh

So all they did is change Beijing with the East Coast!? WTF...

You really didn't think they would mess with the story did you? The only 2 things that's changed in all the films was the location (California, Okinawa, Beijing, and now the East Coast)& the color of the "karate kid" (White 2x, Black and now Chinese), the rest is formulaic and by the numbers.

I can't tell if you were being facetious or sarcastic in your previous reply? It might be that something is lost in the translation between European to American cross cultural exchange.

Joshua Jackson, who is best known for his work in the Mighty Ducks trilogy, Dawson's Creek, and more recently, Dr. Death on Peacock and the Fatal Attraction series on Paramount+, will be in the new film, which marks his first feature film in over a decade. He is said to be playing a major character.

Let's have an open call for the next 'Karate Kid' OR we could just pick this one Kid from this one terrible show.

We could probably change the title of this thread to reflect the new official title and projected release year.
