Guest vengeanceofhumanlanterns
I've just received his one yesyerday. Along with Life Gamble, Magnificent Ruffians, Hell Has No Boundary, House Of Traps. I also picked up Eight Diagram Pole Fighter, Martial Club, Mad Monkey Kung Fu, and Ode To Galantry (this last one just to have the R3/IVL before it's gone. I have the R0 I picked up at a store in Boston). Anyway, should be watching Delightful Forest possibly tonight. Uncut Delightful Forest f*ck ya. I remember someone verifying that this film is part of a series. The Delightful Forest, Water Margin, All Men Are Brothers (WM II), is this as far as the sequels of this particular series go? And is what I've written here accurate?
Guest Steve Barr
I remember someone verifying that this film is part of a series. I think Tiger Killer comes before DF. kungfucinema.com/reviews/...060221.htm
Guest Austin Jones
Isn't Black Tavern somehow connected to the "Outlaws of the Marsh" storyline? Maybe I dreamt it... >D Austin Jones
Guest sammofan
Black Tavern is connected to Lady Hermit. I guess you could call The Amorous Lotus Pan directed by Li Han-Hsiang a prequel to Tiger Killer... if it wasn't a period soft porn film.
Guest fusheng007
Delightful Forest is a prequel to Water Margin and sequel to Tiger Killer. If the film runs around 95min, it should be FAIRLY uncut.
Guest venomchamber
I feel the best sequence to watch these in is as follows: THE AMOROUS LOTUS PAN *The 1964 version written by Chang Cheh and starring Paul Chang Chung as Wu Song and Diana Chang Chung-Wen as Lotus Pan. I consider director Chow Sze-Loke's version better as it is less erotic and also flows into The Delightful Forest smoother. If you haven't seen this version yet, don't pass it up as I feel its worth a look! TIGER KILLER *This is a color remake by Li Han-Hsiang, who remade it again in the 90s, only this one has Ti Lung again in the role of Wu Song and Ku Feng does a superb job as his elder brother! THE DELIGHTFUL FOREST *Wu Song- from tiger killer to monk. THE WATER MARGIN ALL MEN ARE BROTHERS

Guest vengeanceofhumanlanterns
venomchamber, what's Amorous Lotus Pan like as a film? Is there any action ay all. It's not a musical/chinese opera is it?
Guest venomchamber
I feel it is a great film and I enjoyed it immensely Keep in mind it was made in 1964. There is no kung-fu in this movie. There is some occasional 'singing' of the dialog, but not enough to classify it as a musical. Its more a period drama. However, the ending has a Wu Song/Chi-Men Hsing duel that sparks the feel of what Chang Cheh had coming! If you are a fan of the classic story from The Water Margin/The Outlaws Of The Marsh saga, or just curious to the cinematic origins of hero Wu Song, then this is for you. But still, if you are the type that prefers a steady diet of sex, blood and violence in his Shaw film (don't we all!), then pass on it and stick with Tiger Killer. Cheers! Guest vengeanceofhumanlanterns
This film is awesome. The first fight inparticular is great. Ti Lung and Liu Chia Yung go at it hardcore. The drinking in the film is fantastic. Ti Lung just has this balls out attitude. Really intense film.
Guest ironfistedmonk2003
That opening fight it awesome and gets you in the mood for the rest of the movie, very hardcore fight scene, you can feel Ti Lungs thirst for vengeance and Lau Kar Wing fighting for his life. Guest lacali
Just finished watching it tonight. Delightful Forest is awsome. Should not be missed for any Shaw fans, especially Ti Lung fans. The fights are great with more bloody scenes. Highly recommend 10/10. The only bad thing about the IVL disc is it does not have any Delightful Forest trailer. What a shame. Guest sikmao
WOW!!! this flick is AMAZING!!! Ti Lung's acting was flawless, imo! he had a nice 'laid back' sorta attitude, until it was "CLOBBERIN' TIME!!!"!! & man, did he ever!!! & when he drank, hahahaha!!!! he'd end up WEARING half of it!! (what is it, about being such a slob, that's so appealing??) i hadn't been up on the whole sequel thing, thus i was watching it from a "spoiler" free perspective. i thought for sure that he was gonna get "iced" towards the end!!! i kept waiting for someone to realize that all they really had to do, was put some POISON in his wine!!! or stab him with all those SPEARS they had, while he was tied up!!! "HELLLLO!" (of course, there wouldn't be anymore story left, if that happened!) :lol the first fight WAS rather dope, tho! Lau Ga Wing did a great job, i thought! it seemed like he & Ti Lung put out a little something extra, for ol' Chang Cheh!!! Ti Lung, being in his prime, makes it all look so effortless! (i guess with Lau Ga Liang there, doing the fight scenes, what choice did they have?!?) Great flick!! i'd give it 5/5!
Guest Chen Kuan Tai
It's only a DVD-5 (4,7 GB), I am sad but a really good release !!!
Guest Iron Boat
I just ordered this based on the excitement many are showing on this thread. I figure I've seen Tiger Killer, All men are brothers and The Water Margin, might as well watch Delightful Forest......heck even watched Chen Kuan Tai's Hero Tattoed with 9 Dragons which seems to come from the same story.
