Maybe I mixed it with a Chinese transliteration, which I think I'd have noticed, it's more likely my brain was just overloaded with stuff She only did a handful of other films in Korea, including working again with her young Aloha co-star Jeong Tae-woo. But she said in an interview that she found the Korean film industry to be difficult and that she struggled to get the roles she wanted, so left in the early 90s. Member J.J. Hayden Posted September 10 Author Member Share Posted September 10 Aloha Little Vampire Story [1988] - final update (hopefully ) It took me a bit of time to check which of my Steam games have decided to start working and I've also been very busy with other research the last few days (still ongoing :P), but I got back to it and now I've also uploaded the other Korean data that I said I would (a while ago now :P), i.e. the film's Korean titles, the Korean names of the majority of the Taiwanese cast, also some posters and production stills. I also decided to add the Korean crew too, as when I watched the Korean cut there didn't seem to be any difference (same actors and no differing scenes), it seems like a proper collaboration. Some had pages already so I updated them and others needed brand new pages, including the production company, that I managed to put a bit of info for too. Director + Writer: Kang Koo-yeon [NEW] Producer: Kang Dae-jin Producer + Production manager: Kim Woo-bong [NEW] Planning: Moon Hyeon-wook DOP: Kang Dae-yong [NEW] Lighting: Jo Kil-soo [NEW] Edit: Hyeon Dong-choon Music: Yong Taek-soo [NEW] Sound recording: Son In-ho Sound effects: Lee Jae-hui Assistant director: Jeong Jong-cheol [NEW] Singer: Kim Yoo-hwa [NEW] Production company: Samyeong Film Studio [NEW] There's actually one more Korean cast member to update, but I've got his full Koreans Update Project coming on Friday, so I've left it for now. Member J.J. Hayden Posted September 13 Author Member Share Posted September 13 (edited) Koreans Update Project - Yoo Chang-guk (2) https://hkmdb.com/db/people/view.mhtml?id=32472&complete_credits=1&display_set=eng He was already credited on Aloha Little Vampire Story [1988] and Love To Kill [1991] under the Chinese name of Lau Cheung-kwok. He'd been ID'd in Aloha, but not yet in Love To Kill, understandable a single pic of a guy in heavy make-up isn't that much to work with I've him listed as Yoo chang-guk (2) as there's another Yoo Chang-guk who actually has a page on the HKMDB already, a sound recordist that's worked on over 320 Korean films, busy man! Yoo Chang-guk (2) was a very talented martial arts performer and action director from Korea, skilled with weapons and acrobatic, but also had incredible kicking skills, which is probably no surprise, considering that he's was a top student of Hapkido legend Hwang In-shik. He was a highly skilled gymnast, one one of the best of his generation, a talent he put to great use when doubling stars such as Wang Ho (aka Casanova Wong) and Shim Hyung-rae. In fact it was considered a bit of a debate among Korean action industry members as to who was the best, him or Won Jin. Perhaps this is what led to them co-starring in the film Doofus Detective And The Twin Light Brothers, the end fight of which has the two of them teaming up against Korea's top action actors of the time, featuring many familiar faces and also newcomers that would continue to push the boundaries of Korean acrobatic action such as Kadet Lee Seung-hoon and Oh Se-yeong. Both Yoo and WJ got a great opportunity to show off their amazing kicking and acrobatic skills here, both of them also being the assistant action directors probably helped with that too. It's a shame that they only had a few chances to work together. I did actually try to contact him, but unbeknownst to me at the time, he had already passed away. I only discovered this unfortunate fact early this year. On another sad note, I have not been able to get a full copy of, Sword Of Evil Power [1985] and the clips I have are very LQ. Unfortunately, I was close (maybe) to trading for a copy of Sword with someone who shared a clip online, but they stopped responding once I listed some films I could trade, so that looks like a dead end. But all is not lost, as I do have a very small production still that shows Wang Ho (aka Casanova Wong) being held by some henchmen, one of whom I believe is Yoo. Even though the production still is tiny I'm certain that it is Yoo (and some others I'm sure I recognise :P), I also managed to find some bts pics which although still not ideal for this matter (as he's in the background), still look like him to me. Also his casting would make sense as he also appeared in South Shaolin Vs North Shaolin which was also directed by Wang Ho (and featured several of the same cast) and The Uninvited Guest Of Star Ferry which featured several of the same cast too. So I'm convinced it's him. So I've added the usual info: Name and aliases; country of origin; DOB and death; and added pics for all the films possible. The Legend Of Peach Blossom [1983] --- 6 roles South Shaolin Vs North Shaolin [1984] --- 7 roles Ninja Terminator [1985] Sword Of Evil Power [1985] Ninja Operation 5: Godfather The Master [1986] Aloha Little Vampire Story [1988] Year Of The King Boxer [1990] --- 2 roles Love To Kill [1991] As you can probably tell, he's someone I've done a good amount of research on and there's a lot more I have to say about him. A bio will be coming somewhere down the line and at least one two more films eventually when I add them to the database, so look forward to that. Also, while I was getting pics from Love To Kill, I scoured it for other Koreans as I knew Choe Jeong-il and Jeong Doo-hong were in it, so there was a chance there might be more. But it seems that it was just those three in the end, so I took some new pics of Choe and Jeong to accompany Michael Kistner's pic. Choe Jeong-il https://hkmdb.com/db/people/view.mhtml?id=8549&display_set=eng Jeong Doo-hong https://hkmdb.com/db/people/view.mhtml?id=32471&display_set=eng PS: Thanks to the mate who helped me track down a rare film. Being Hwang In-shik's top student must have opened many doors in the industry.

You'd think so (given Hwang's talent), but I'm not sure, as by the time Yoo entered the film industry, Hwang was pretty much retired, so obviously he couldn't give him work directly and I'm not sure how much influence he had with the film executives. What did influence them was going out drinking with them on demand. Many martial artists had to put their health and fitness in jeopardy just to get work in the industry. Sadly this practice was far too common, and may have actually contributed to Yoo's early death.
Member J.J. Hayden Posted 2 hours ago Author Member Share Posted 2 hours ago A Blow Of Fury [1977] re-updated https://hkmdb.com/db/movies/view.mhtml?id=14869&complete_credits=1&display_set=eng Already did an update for A Blow Of Fury a while ago, but had been intending for some time to come back and improve it. It's taken a while for a few reasons. Firstly there were plenty of other things to do, including things that took priority, especially since I wasn't in any rush to do a whole film again (I really don't like it doing it that way, in fact, these and one more might be my last). I found a way to get slightly better images, so decided I might as well redo do all the cast I knew at that time. But while going through the limited and poor quality footage I had of Blazing Fists (which shares most of the same cast) I did a lot of detective work and managed to nail down the IDs of the missing stuntmen (including another uncredited one for Fury and three who don't appear on the credits for Fists) that I wasn't confident on before. But also spotted a few more people playing secondary roles, so that increased the time taken too. What fun! I also wanted to do the IDs for Blazing Fists first, which took quite a bit of time, for the issues mentioned above. New IDs: Jang Dong-bin --- 2 roles https://hkmdb.com/db/people/view.mhtml?id=76780&display_set=eng Kang Dong-gyu https://hkmdb.com/db/people/view.mhtml?id=54646&display_set=eng Choe Moo-ryang https://hkmdb.com/db/people/view.mhtml?id=129917&display_set=eng Lee Nam-ho https://hkmdb.com/db/people/view.mhtml?id=129918&display_set=eng Lee Hwa-jin --- 2 roles https://hkmdb.com/db/people/view.mhtml?id=80852&display_set=eng Already ID'd but new ID's for secondary roles: Kim Baek-soo https://hkmdb.com/db/people/view.mhtml?id=76801&display_set=eng Heo Seok-do https://hkmdb.com/db/people/view.mhtml?id=54877&display_set=eng Hong Seong-yeong https://hkmdb.com/db/people/view.mhtml?id=84366&display_set=eng Lee Jin-yeong https://hkmdb.com/db/people/view.mhtml?id=54596&display_set=eng Kim Hoe-moon https://hkmdb.com/db/people/view.mhtml?id=129910&display_set=eng I eventually decided to add the remaining crew too and updated the pages for the rest: Writer: Hong Ji-woon https://hkmdb.com/db/people/view.mhtml?id=65858&display_set=eng Art director: No In-taek https://hkmdb.com/db/people/view.mhtml?id=83839&display_set=eng Props: Woo Jong-sam https://hkmdb.com/db/people/view.mhtml?id=84440&display_set=eng Sound effects: Yoon Deok-yeong https://hkmdb.com/db/people/view.mhtml?id=87084&display_set=eng Assistant directors: Park Song-hwa [NEW] + Kim Seong-gi [NEW] https://hkmdb.com/db/people/view.mhtml?id=137373&display_set=eng https://hkmdb.com/db/people/view.mhtml?id=137372&display_set=eng Film processing: Daedong Laboratory [NEW] https://hkmdb.com/db/companies/view.mhtml?id=6432&display_set=eng Camera team: Ka Lee-sa [NEW] https://hkmdb.com/db/people/view.mhtml?id=137374&display_set=eng Lighting team: Son Dal-ho https://hkmdb.com/db/people/view.mhtml?id=83838&display_set=eng Production managers: Kim Woo-bong + Yoon Hyeon-ho [NEW] https://hkmdb.com/db/people/view.mhtml?id=137365&display_set=eng https://hkmdb.com/db/people/view.mhtml?id=137375&display_set=eng Cheers
Member J.J. Hayden Posted 1 hour ago Author Member Share Posted 1 hour ago Blazing Fists [1977] update https://hkmdb.com/db/movies/view.mhtml?id=14867&display_set=eng As noted on my new A Blow Of Fury update. I only have limited footage from Blazing Fists and the quality is horrendously low, so please forgive the sub-par pics, I truly did the best with what I had Also, since I listed the few remaining stuntmen that feature in both films that I managed to ID on that update, the only “Brand New” ID I can list for this film is Lee Wang. He did have a page on the HKMDB but under the alias Lee Hwang, so I've updated that page including gender, DOB and more aliases. There was one other brand new actor, Kim Seong-gi, but it's one that I can't ID. As it's his only film as an actor so I don't have anything to compare. There is one henchman that I can't get a good enough look at that could be him, but since I don't have all the scenes I can't be sure he's not someone else. Plus, the fact he's actually worked as crew on three other films (including as an Assistant director on A Blow Of Fury, I added that too), makes me lean towards him not being a stuntman, and just getting a bit role as a regular actor. I created a new page for him. There were only 8 credits on our cast list for: Bobby Kim Woong-gyung; Best Kwon Yeong-moon; Kim Ki-joo; Kim Ki-soo (2); Lee Nam-ho ; Kim Baek-soo; Park Hui-jin; Heo Seok-do (the last 4 of which I added earlier myself), so I've updated the cast list. I've also deleted Kim Ki-soo (2) [other info: 金三型 , 김기수, Jin San-Xing, Kim Gi-Su – South Korean] from our database, as I'm convinced it is a miscrediting of Kim Ki-joo. In fact, that Hanja comes out as Kim Sam-hyeong, which would be a very odd Korean name, but also doesn't seem to fit anybody, even on the KMDB. But if there's a source that shows this Hanja as an alias for Kim Ki-joo, let me know and I'll add it to his page. I've also added a larger clearer poster and some black and white production stills. Bobby Kim Woong-gyung and Best Kwon Yeong-moon had been ID'd with pics cut from black and white production stills, but all the rest are new (except for a couple that I'd uploaded a little while back but hadn't announced yet, due to distractions :P) Bobby Kim Woong-gyung https://hkmdb.com/db/people/view.mhtml?id=20021&display_set=eng Best Kwon Yeong-moon https://hkmdb.com/db/people/view.mhtml?id=13506&display_set=eng Lee Wang https://hkmdb.com/db/people/view.mhtml?id=110797&display_set=eng Kim Ji-hye https://hkmdb.com/db/people/view.mhtml?id=31942&display_set=eng Kim Ki-joo https://hkmdb.com/db/people/view.mhtml?id=13878&display_set=eng Choe Jae-ho https://hkmdb.com/db/people/view.mhtml?id=17024&display_set=eng Han Myung-hwan https://hkmdb.com/db/people/view.mhtml?id=17967&display_set=eng Choe Seok https://hkmdb.com/db/people/view.mhtml?id=54683&display_set=eng Kim Baek-soo https://hkmdb.com/db/people/view.mhtml?id=76801&display_set=eng Park Hui-jin https://hkmdb.com/db/people/view.mhtml?id=54639&display_set=eng Kwon Il-soo https://hkmdb.com/db/people/view.mhtml?id=16116&display_set=eng Jo Seong-goo (2) https://hkmdb.com/db/people/view.mhtml?id=129909&display_set=eng Kang Dong-gyu https://hkmdb.com/db/people/view.mhtml?id=54646&display_set=eng Choe Moo-ryang https://hkmdb.com/db/people/view.mhtml?id=129917&display_set=eng Lee Nam-ho https://hkmdb.com/db/people/view.mhtml?id=129918&display_set=eng Heo Seok-do https://hkmdb.com/db/people/view.mhtml?id=54877&display_set=eng Kim Seong-gi (no ID) https://hkmdb.com/db/people/view.mhtml?id=137372&display_set=eng Jang Dong-bin https://hkmdb.com/db/people/view.mhtml?id=76780&display_set=eng Kim Jong-heon https://hkmdb.com/db/people/view.mhtml?id=129905&display_set=eng Kim Hoe-moon https://hkmdb.com/db/people/view.mhtml?id=129910&display_set=eng Hong Seong-yeong https://hkmdb.com/db/people/view.mhtml?id=84366&display_set=eng Lee Hwa-jin https://hkmdb.com/db/people/view.mhtml?id=80852&display_set=eng Again, I eventually added the remaining crew and updated the pages for the rest: Planning: Kim In-gi https://hkmdb.com/db/people/view.mhtml?id=83955&display_set=eng Still Photographer: Yang Ki-joo https://hkmdb.com/db/people/view.mhtml?id=137267&display_set=eng Cheers
