Identify film based on Chinese title (1980)

So the Box Office CN website has all of the Hong Kong numbers from 1969 to the present.

It has generally been accepted that The Young Master was the top-grossing film of 1980, but they have another title listed, which I haven't been able to identify. Can anyone help me figure out the title?

This one is a weird one.  Check out the character set for Rising Sun / 慘痛的戰爭 (1980) which was released on 2/28/1980.  BTW no Shaw Brothers were released that day.

'Rising Sun' that @masterofoneinchpunch linked to did nowhere near those numbers, according to HKMDB.

I'm sure that it's Rising Sun. 

慘 is the same as 惨, the latter being simplified.

The middle character, "的" is the same in traditional and simplified characters.

The fourth character, 戰 , has 战 as its simplified form.

The last character, 爭, is simplified as 争.

Only the second character doesn't seem to pan out.

That just leaves the question of how the film found its way onto the list.
