Does anybody know which Zhang Yimou film is referred to in the newsletter from Vinegar Syndrome?

I wonder if its going to be Shanghai Triad? Since Film Movement already released it on blu ray and seems all VS is doing is dressing up their FM's past blu ray releases such as Samurai Wolf, All About Lily Chou-chou and putting them in fancy slipcovers ever since FM became a VS partner label.

I also see Rob Jabbaz's The Sadness listed in the banner. I already have the German mediabook, so won't be double dipping.

I’ll double dip on The Sadness if it’s a decent release. A 4K disc would be nice.

If it's not 4K UHD then I'll probably skip it as I got spoiled by the German release. You have the same release right? unless I misheard you during your The Sadness podcast.

I do. Completely forgot the German release was 4K. It seems I don't need to double dip unless this release truly is stellar.

As expected it's Shanghai Triad.

Slipcover for Beijing Watermelon also sold out

I'm hoping some copies will show up at the usual retailers soon.  I wasn't going to double dip on The Sadness but I might pick up on the standard edition just for the new 'extras'

yes, no issues as far as I can tell. The video and audio are fine. One or two users reported some issues with freezing or the disc stopping mid way but I never experienced it with my Oppo player.

Shoutout to Oppo. Invested in a high end blu ray player years ago and it's still going strong.

It's partners only right now through the 26th. So VS is showcasing it's partner labels only. You'll have to check back in 3 weeks time to order Lifeline.

Is that "just" action drama in style of f e daylight or villains in it?

Lifeline is a pretty average melodrama but has top notch stunt work and action involving the fire fighters, fire fighting. Think Backdraft but I always like to call it the Hard Boiled of fire fighter movies.

What @Knetan said, I remember there was a butting of heads between the two leads & they have to put their differences aside to work towards a common goal type deal.

Didn't some label release it with that exact tagline about it being Harboiled meets Backdraft? Hope Stewart got credited for it.
