The trident-halberd or Tang (鎲; tang) originated during the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644 A.D., 明朝). It has a 0.5-meter (1.6 feet) long sharp steel head with a snake-shaped blade crosspiece, fixed on a 2.5-meter (8.3 feet)long shaft.  The trident-halberd was used for hitting, thrusting and blocking. As it is long and heavy the users must be tall and strong. The techniques include throwing, patting, holding, hiding, pushing, turning, supporting and blocking.

The weapon is mentioned in The Odd Couple (1979) as one of the 18 Traditional Weapons of Kung Fu.

From an article in Chinese (translated via Google):

"The [ranseur] is a weapon that evolved from farm tools and was founded in the mid-Ming Dynasty during the [Japanese Invasion of Korea (1592-598)]. It is seven feet six inches long and weighs five catties. The front is like a spearhead. It grows two strands and two inches, with a horizontal strand on each side and a quadrangular blade. This weapon is "strikeable [and] defensive"...When the enemy is far away, two can be used as a rocket stand for launching rockets; when the enemy is approaching, they can be used to kill the enemy; when the enemy is in contact with the enemy, they can disarm the enemy. The weapons are called "the most profitable in the army."

Also known as [trident-halberd]. Ancient weapons. It is shaped like a horse fork, with an advantageous edge on both sides, and a two-strand under the blade. Wu Bei Zhi, says, "The [ranseur], with a sharp blade on the top, with a horizontally curved [crosspiece]. The blade has two fronts, one of which is a ridge. The method of construction must be divided into ridges and flat grinding. The spine is flattened to the front, and its sharpness is sharp, and it will dull for a long time. The center under the head can accommodate walnuts(??), but it is settled in the wood. It is not damaged, and it is still closed with a nail."

A variant of the Trident-Halberd can be seen being wielded by one of the killers in Seven Swords (2005). It can be also been seen in TV series Heroes of Sui and Tang Dynasties.
