Member laagi Posted July 6, 2021 Member Share Posted July 6, 2021 (edited) Beautifully shot spy thriller! The cinematography for the most part is outstanding. This needs to be seen on the big screen. Also very bleak with most of it taking place at night or dimly lit areas. Also the winter sceneries are breathtaking. Again coming from Zhang Yimou this should probably have been expected. As for the story it's pretty standard fare with some occasional shootouts, fights and car chases. Also some torture scense but nothing too explicit. Although the violence does get bloody. Great performances, especially by the four (five) lead characters. But I gotta ask did every spy walk around with a black trench coat and a fedora on their head back then Overall I can highly recommend this movie! Just don't expect too much of a story. Moderator One Armed Boxer Posted November 12, 2021 Moderator Share Posted November 12, 2021 Agree with you 100% on this one @laagi! I got through watching it recently, and gave it the full review treatment over at COF - https://cityonfire.com/cliff-walkers-2021-review-zhang-yimou/ 2
