I have seen clips of the remasters. Arrow borrowed a trailer from me. No joke - These films will never have looked better.  Experts are gushing over the colors. It's a thing of beauty!

Only thing I would change about this is that I would swipe out Five Deadly Venoms for Human Lanterns or a Chor Yuen flick. Venoms already has multiple releases ( and is kinda overrated in my opinion )

Well, human lanterns had been impossible as 88 has it. But agree, Chu Yuan movie instead of 5dv venoms had been neat. Love movie but own/owned 1vhs, 2 dvds and 1br so far would have preferred something which have only as ivl dvd.

Arrow sent message they refund money to paypal, did not ask it and was before that under impression order still stands.
Done with them, will enter into zavvi or amazon route.

Edit:they did not refund even as mailed do so but seems they have gotten mess sorted out, got mail ordre is safe even as don`t show up on account yet.

What sold me is the 2 bonus soundtracks included. Is this going to be in all of the boxsets cause I only see zaavi site states there will be a 2 bonus CD score. I don't see it listed anywhere else? Can someone confirm?

Wee question. Anyone know what the SD version of shaolin temple is going to be? Always felt that the end fight scenes are slightly cut, particularly the scene where the guy learning the turning paper on the sharp stones technique is doing a slo mo jump when the archers shoot arrows at him and the screen freezes only to start up again when he lands on the floor and i think it freezes again. Seemed too clunky to be stylistic cos if you ask me Chang Cheh was too good a director for how clunky that scene felt. I did hear that supposedly there was a german TV edit that had uncensored footage during the end fights. Anyone know?

My suspicion is that the SD version will be the 2002/2003 Celestial master. When they remastered some of the earlier titles a second time - Heroes Two comes to mind - they then did the frame-cutting which they avoided on the earlier releases.

That would be strange if the case. I had the old vcd and got shaolin temple as part of the german best of shaws collection and both seemed exactly the same as the old warner tape minus the censorship cuts by bbfc. Is the blu on the best of shaws an old remaster then do you think? Would the difference be even noticeable?

@KUNG FU BOB would you ever consider doing spaghetti western artworks? I think those titles can be the next big thing in home video collection.  You know I'll buy them brother.:BL-OK:

Absolutely. I'm a fan of them, and I did lots of drawings of Clint Eastwood from the Sergio Leone films when I was younger.

Greetings all!

My review discs arrived from Arrow for the Shawscope Volume 1 Boxset.

First impressions are absolutely INCREDIBLE!

I'll be making full video reviews of each disc in the set in detail in the coming weeks before the Boxset gets officially released as well as reviewing the full set for issue #3 of the Eastern Heroes magazine.

I've uploaded a sneak peek / early bird preview video to my new Youtube channel ( my old one was deleted by YT just as I had hit 3k subs) so please jump over to Youtube and check it out and please leave any questions you have about the set in the comments section under the video and I'll do my best to answer them all over the coming weeks.

Extremely excited to get into the set properly, it's the release I've been most excited about this year since it's announcement back in July.

Cheers!

Bummer about losing the old channel. Glad to see you managed to salvage most of your videos and good luck getting back most of hour followers again hopefully quickly. Wee question about the set. Can you elaborate on what the SD cut of shaolin temple is? Is there any missing action or bloody scenes restored thag werent on previous releases?

Thank you mate! It's a slow road building back up again, i lost about the last two months worth of videos but thankfully had most of my earlier ones archived.

I'm trying my best to work out exactly what differences there are between the HD and SD cuts of Shaolin Temple,

the SD cut runs for about 2 mins longer but the two versions look extremely similar to me so far, certainly the screen freeze moments you referenced earlier in this thread from during the end fight atop the sharp stones is the same in both cuts present in the set.

Thanks for the reply mate. Its unfortunate no one downloaded those missing videos.

Thanks for the info on shaolin temple. It sounds like @Killer Meteor suspicion could indeed be correct and could just be the frame cuts that are the difference.
