I was looking at James Ryan's acting reel and one of the titles that came across was a 1991 action revenge thriller called The Last Hero. The film has him playing Calif Salenger, a man framed for murder and escapes from prison. However, the ones responsible track him down and to ensure he can't do anything, kill his wife in front of him. He ends up learning martial arts and self-discipline from an old monk-like character, played by Arsenio "Sonny" Trinidad of The Next Karate Kid fame. Ryan also served as a producer of the film.
