Member Jonny Posted April 3, 2021 Member Share Posted April 3, 2021 Just wondering peoples favourites from golden harvest, during the 70s .. other than the Bruce Lee movies.. because I know a lot of people may rate those the best. Three of mine are, shaolin plot.. because I’m a big fan of Casanova Wong’s leg work... warriors 2 & I really like hand of death. Something about that movie that always makes me go back. I could list many others... but interested to hear if anybody agrees with me. Thanks.

You’ve mentioned quite a few movies there that I’ve never seen! That’s opened my eyes, I’ve seen most of the shaw brothers Kung fu movies & most of the 70s Kung fu movies.I thought I’d seen pretty much all the golden harvest Kung fu movies, but I was wrong! Haven’t seen , the blade Spares no one, the hurricane, beach of the war gods, the fate of lee Khan, Manchu boxer & the skyhawk! How have I missed these!?!

I’ll have to go through all the movies you’ve listed that I haven’t seen... thanks man!

Do you know the best place to go to get these on dvd...preferably in their original language with English subs? I normally use Far East flix.. but some of the ones you listed are only dubbed. Try my best to avoid dubbed in golden harvest & shaw movies.
Member TibetanWhiteCrane Posted April 4, 2021 Member Share Posted April 4, 2021 (edited) Collected them years ago, most of them as the Fortune Star Legendary Collection DVDs... long since OOP and going for ridiculous prices if you stumble onto them on eBay/Amazon etc. Tiger of Northland never had an official DVD release that I know of and The Valiant Ones I own is the German DVD with Mandarin audio and English subs. But with most of the King Hu classics now having had Blu releases, hopefully this one will too. Sammo as a ghostfaced samurai pirate throwing shurikens needs to be seen in higher definition. I used to purchase my dvds from FLK cinema...but the amount of time you’d have to wait was around 6 weeks & I had dvds that didn’t work in some cases... they did have everything though. Obviously not the originals. I’m lucky to own most of the shaw movies.. I see those going for outrageous prices on eBay.

Member saltysam Posted April 4, 2021 Member Share Posted April 4, 2021 They are likely now OOP but Shout's Martial Arts Movie Marathon , Angela Mao, Jimmy Wang Yu and double feature sets are a good way of building up a nice GH 70's collection.
Member Omni Dragon Posted April 4, 2021 Member Share Posted April 4, 2021 The Man from Hong Kong aka The Dragon Flies (1975) an Australian co-production is fairly easy to get. Not sure I'd personally call it a favourite, but still it is entertaining.
