I can understand upgrading from VHS to DVD then blu ray, but not from blu ray to 4K.
Member AslanBey Posted September 10 Member Share Posted September 10 (edited) I have the old 88 bluray with no slipcase etc. I'll upgrade to 4k if it comes with some physical extras. Edited September 10 by AslanBey
Member ChillyChong Posted September 10 Member Share Posted September 10 Dragon Fist is easily favorite of Chan&Wei movies. Old br wasn't that good(sold it when there was rumour 88 may release updated version). Day1 purchase, even more important than 3D bodyguards.

I’ll be upgrading, just because I really didn’t like the color grading for the restoration on the old Blu-ray. 88 had a whole new 4k restoration done for this release, and all of their new restorations have been stellar. Frank Djeng hinted on the HK Cinema Appreciation Society FB group that he's doing an audio commentary for this 4K version, presumably with FJ DeSantos. Member starschwar Posted September 11 Member Share Posted September 11 https://88-films.myshopify.com/products/magnificent-bodyguards-deluxe-limited-edition Interesting - it lists the runtime as 104 minutes, which is uncut. However, at least according to DVDcompare, the 3D version was shorter, clocking in at 89 minutes. I wonder - did 88 unearth the cut scenes in their original 3D format? Will they just be presented in 2D? Or will they be post-converted to 3D?

The Japanese 3D laserdisc cut about 10 minutes off the film.

I've already read the DVD reviews on Amazon UK, and for 63 mins of my time, it seems I much prefer watching paint dry.

Ya feel me? Yes and no. I want hk cinema looks as great as possible. But for american exploitations like forced entry or last house on the left flicks benefit from not looking "perfect". Adds a bit nice grindhouse atmosphere
