At least that's been my luck... Then you'll place an order...and Oh... there it is back in stock. I try to consolidate to ship all to US, but sometimes things go out of stock if I wait too long. Another one of the frustrations of trying to order directly with them. I wish they made things easier. Yeah, good point. I don't want to miss out on Fist of Legend, I've been wanting that for so long. Screw it, I'll figure out something else to pair with Island later on. Thats a big minus for me. A deluxe edition should have dub versions. I try it every time but I just cant watch movies with subtitles. It was a must have for me but now I have to think twice. Thats really strange. Maybe an error on the website?
Member Killer Meteor Posted April 25 Member Share Posted April 25 It's likely because the HK rights holder, who I assume the disc is licensed from, doesn't have rights to the Dimension dub.
Member Omni Dragon Posted April 26 Member Share Posted April 26 Before the 2000 Miramax dub there was an earlier English dub recorded around 1995 in Hong Kong though, with Pierre Tremblay, John Culkin and Simon Broad.

Member Yihetuan Posted May 3 Member Share Posted May 3 I have to say the packaging for An Autumn's Tale looks pretty nice but Immortal Story is kinda meh.
Member Drunken Monk Posted May 3 Member Share Posted May 3 A Sex & Zen deluxe release. I couldn't be happier. Thought a box-set with the other films would have been nice.

I couldn't watch Asian films with subs on to begin with, but then realised I can look at the subs and the action at the same time. I've learned to read quickly even though I'm dyslexic. Bear in mind there's no talking when there's fighting, and that's what we usually go for. There are some exceptions though. Zu warriors from the magic mountain has just got waAy too much dialogue for me to read and watch the action, so I've missed out a lot on that film. There's some others, but can't remember them. 2

Hopefully, they can start getting rights to more non-action/crime Hong Kong titles. Like comedies.

Granted licensing 'non-action' titles may not generate the same amount of buzz & sales but I imagine they are cheaper to license to begin with, so there's that trade off. Member Knetan Posted May 4 Member Share Posted May 4 But it's also such an approachable, gentle, lovely film. Not dramatically difficult to get into, nothing fancy or arty about it so hoping people will watch An Autumn's Tale for just that. A scruffy looking Chow Yun-fat, but kind, utterfly charming and one of my favourite scenes is just him listening to Cherie Chung sing on the phone.
Member Niklaus Vogel Posted May 4 Member Share Posted May 4 Surprised no special features had been listed for all three titles at all.

But I believe it depends on mere titles as certain genre movies of Hong Kong cinema could generate moderate amount of buzz and sales. On the subject of HK comedies, I think Michael Hui (Brothers) movies could be a good start.
