Member Super Ninja Posted August 1, 2021 Member Share Posted August 1, 2021 https://www.filmlinc.org/films/rising-shaolin-the-protector/ US fans can see Rising Shaolin at this year's NYAFF in August, available for online screening as well. Sadly, we EU fans will have to wait some more.

It might not pop up anywhere in the western world. It's available on the Hi-Yah! streaming service which is free to view if you don't mind commercials (much like Tubi TV). Anyway, I saw this and it's pretty flat with only a couple of funny comedic moments and the same goes for the fight scenes which are few and far between. The opening scene where "General Bao" takes on the bandits piqued my interest a bit especially since it was quite bloody but that was one of the few highlights other than the finale. Disappointed since I am a fan of Wang Baoqiang but unfortunately, he was more annoying than funny here. It was bittersweet watching Ng Man-tat in his final acting performance.
