Member NoKUNGFUforYU Posted November 22, 2020 Member Share Posted November 22, 2020 Ehtan Hawke acts his ass off in this grim slough about a pastor experiencing existential despair in a small church when he tries to minister a soon to be widow of an environmentalist. Pretty tough to get through, and it gets weird in the last 20 minutes or so. It's written by Paul Shrader who wrote Taxi Driver, but also wrote the virulently anti union film Blue Collar and the nice guy cocaine dealer movie Light Sleeper. So, his career is all over the map. Great line in the movie "how is the environment political?" Of course, I don't have any opinions of my own, so you better as Tibetan White Crane, as he does, obviously.
Member Drunken Monk Posted November 23, 2020 Member Share Posted November 23, 2020 I really enjoyed this one. As you said, it’s kind of dark and moody but I tend to lean toward films like that. I actually need to pick this one up on Blu Ray.
