Didn't remember, had to check, and yes, an opening demo against multi-colored backdrops does indeed count... despite them cutting to an outside shot in the middle there. Or was that also a studio set? The version on youtube is so crappy.

The eagle's killer has a red background during the credits, showing John Chang training, and Hwang Jang Lee training with...a skeleton !!

Wasn't SWM just a dark room, or am I misremembering?

Good point, it’s more of a dark room.

Half a Loaf goes on the list though.

I find this "gimmick" pretty cool. Especially considering it's used as the opening credits sequence, so throw in a good tune and you got a great scene to kick off your movie.

Sister Streetfighter probably goes on the list. I believe Return of the Sister Street Fighter does, too.

They would... but I just count Kung Fu films for this.

Fighting Ace  starring John Liu has a red background opening credit sequence but it's almost completely cut out on the Xenon dvd except for a few seconds.

Young Avenger (1980) have red background during the intro.

Crystal Fist (1979) have lots of different colors during the intro.

Pomson Shi does his thing in front of a red background during the opening of 1978’s ‘Two in Black Belt’.

It's too bad that no-one lampooned the red background trope by having someone dressed up as a white blood cell taking on different kinds of bacteria.

Perhaps it was just too cliché then, and they decided on a different approach...

I think Knockabout promo was shot as a teaser as opposed to being in the film...

It's a surprise that Sammo didn't go through with the monochrome intro for The Iron-Fisted Monk, although Enter the Fat Dragon was the exception to the rule.

It’s nice to see that Sifu, the recently releases video game, chose to homage classic kung fu cinema and include opening credits against a red background…
