Member DiP Posted July 7, 2020 Member Share Posted July 7, 2020 (edited) Guess Yen ain't done playing criminals after Chasing the Dragon. Let's see if this project happens though, I have a feeling that it's gonna be another Hollywood production that enters pre-production only to be left hanging loose without its' lead actor involved for long. https://deadline.com/2020/07/donnie-yen-chinese-mexican-drug-kingpin-golden-empire-starlight-media-1202979426/ Edited July 7, 2020 by DiP
Member TibetanWhiteCrane Posted July 7, 2020 Member Share Posted July 7, 2020 If it's a Hollywood production, shouldn't the title then be The Legend of the Golden Empire? 1
Member Yihetuan Posted July 7, 2020 Member Share Posted July 7, 2020 I wonder if the inspiration behind this project is Zhenli Ye Gon? https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-7302877/Mexico-auction-suspected-drug-traffickers-mansion.html As much as I enjoyed Donnie performance as Cripple Ho in Chasing the Dragon, I felt he was overshadowed by Tony Leung Ka-fai as the mastermind kidnapper for ransom in the sequel, Chasing the Dragon 2: Wild Wild Bunch.

How can he be overshadowed by a different actor in a different movie playing a diffrent role?

I probably worded it wrong but I meant that I enjoyed Tony Leung Ka-fai's performance more than Donnie Yen even though both were based on 'real life' figures. Donnie Yen as Cripple Ho was enjoyable but I imagine Big Tony would've brought out that character even more based on his portrayal of Chung Tse-kung in Wild Wild Bunch 2.

Member Koravec Posted May 1, 2021 Member Share Posted May 1, 2021 Damn another chasing the dragon type flick? Was hoping to take the title more literally with over the top cgi in a golden empire. Basically just Gods of Egypt but with Yen lol. Would wager most here would prefer the former.
Member DiP Posted May 1, 2021 Author Member Share Posted May 1, 2021 I always wanted Donnie to do crime movies so Chasing the Dragon was the perfect opportunity. I don't mind him doing more.
