Robert Lee, Bruce Lee's real brother, did one Golden Harvest flick in 1977 called Lady Killer. Not sure if they had him in mind as a "replacement", but it was definitely a cash grab since it was Bruce's blood.

Others: Ko Chun Hsiung (The Devil’s Treasure), Chan Wai Man (The Handcuff), Carter Wong (The Skyhawk), Dorian Tan Tao Liang (Hand of Death) and Yue Bing Lung (The Association). Even one-time Bond, George Lazenby (Stoner), was high on GH's "new star" list to gain some much needed, world-wide momentum.

Spring rolls don't come for free!

Yep, Mysterious Lady killer.

can anyone think of anyone else Golden Harvest tried to position as the Next Bruce Lee/Bruce Lee's replacement between 1974-1977?

Would Lau Wing(Tony Liu) in The Manchu Boxer(1974) qualify?.

Quote

Originally released in 1974, The Manchu Boxer has become a largely forgotten entry in both Wu Ma and Sammo Hung's filmographies. Shot in South Korea and cranked out on the cheap by Golden Harvest, the film didn't make much of a peep when it came out, which is probably why Independent-International Pictures, a company run by Al Adamson -- a producer and director always looking to save a few bucks -- picked up the film for North American distribution under the title Masters of Martial Arts.

Byong Yu was another one of their candidates for the next Bruce. They tried hyping him up in their magazine, Golden Movie News, but to no avail. After The Association (1975), he was never heard from again.

Funnily enough i recently picked up an old issue of Fighting Stars which had an interview with him, he was pretty sure he was going to make it big. Weird he never made another movie.

One guy who could have been the next Bruce Lee was Tino Wong. According to Bey Logan's Bruce Lee and I book, he was one of the candidates for the biopic that Robert Clouse was going to direct. What stood Tino in good stead was that he could speak perfect English (Bey met him when he first went to Hong Kong). Coincidentally, Tino was in a film called Bruce Lee and I. This was one but many of the films that Tino appeared in for Shaw Brothers.
