Born on July 2, 1988, Ian Ignacio is a second-generation martial artist and actor, the son of Filipino actor and karate expert Levy Ignacio. After growing up in San Francisco, Ignacio went to the Philippines and decided to take up Tae Kwon Do under the country's ambassador of the martial art, Monsour Del Rosario. Ignacio refused a spot on the national TKD team to return to the United States to pursue an education. He earned a degree in foreign services from the Dominican University of California. In 2014, he returned to the Philippines where he began following in his father's footsteps to become an actor. His film debut came in the action thriller New Blood in 2014, in a supporting role. The film also featured Del Rosario, who had returned to acting after an 8-year hiatus; and Ian's father Levy Ignacio. He had a brief role as a bodyguard in Mark Dacascos's directorial debut, Showdown in Manila, and had appeared in the South Korean film Master as well.

However, his breakout looks to be the lead role in Vincent Soberano's The Trigonal: Fight for Justice. As lead character Jacob Casa, a MMA fighter who gives it up when his wife is pregnant only to find her comatose when he refuses to join a drug dealer's underground tournament, Ignacio showcases both his acting chops and martial arts skills. Ignacio looks to be a rising star in the world of Filipino action cinema, with a role in the upcoming Soberano horror-martial arts hybrids Blood Hunters: Rise of the Hybrids and Circle of Bones.
