Not the first time Hollywood has brought an actor back from th dead. Will this spark the return of other well known faces/talents from the past?. This doesnt sound like a novelty cameo either, with Dean's image being used for a significent role?.

Quote

Directed by Anton Ernst and Tati Golykh, the project comes from the filmmakers' own recently launched production house Magic City Films, which obtained the rights to use Dean’s image from his family. Canadian VFX banner Imagine Engine will be working alongside South African VFX company MOI Worldwide to re-create what the filmmakers describe as “a realistic version of James Dean.”

Adapted by Mari Sova from Gareth Crocker’s novel, Finding Jack is based on the existence and abandonment of more than 10,000 military dogs at the end of the Vietnam War. Dean will play a character called Rogan, considered a secondary lead role.

The cultural icon, who died in 1955, will return to the screen via CGI using actual footage and photos for 'Finding Jack.'

That has sparked a ton of backlash...the director responds

There just cashing in on his image, and if the movies popular. I'm sure Hollywood will have a new trend to follow.

Guess they pay the James Dean Estate, what they would have paid an actor for the role?.

To say this isn't a marketing gimmick is ludicrous. Of course it is. If it wasn't a marketing gimmick, why not just design a totally new CGI character with the same intensity as James Dean? They are one hundred percent cashing in on his name.

There's all those actors out their looking for a break, and yet they felt the need to use James Dean's image because knowone else fit the role.

Oh geez, wish they would just let it be.  The man had a lot of potential and unfortunately passed on at a very young age.  Besides, I think he went through enough while living, especially being forced to break up with this pretty girl.

Why pay to see a hologram, when you can watch many older acts in there prime on DVD/Blu-Ray. Which doesnt cost half as much as going to see a hologram show.

The hologram concert revolution is here, whether you like it or not: Meet the company touring Whitney Houston and Buddy Holly

I think that if the person agrees to it before they die(Like I think Mark Hamill did), then fine. But doing this after they have passed with no consent, is kind of sick. Its basically stealing someone's identity.

Might wanna tell that to the ones who hold the rights to their name or persona. To me it's just another cash grab. Nothing else!

I doubt they would even notice me with those giant dollar signs in their eyes.
