I just wanna gather as much information as we can about action directors and make this thread a reference thread.

- Johnny Yong Bosch : https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0097765/

- Yuen Wo-Ping : https://www.ifc.com/2011/05/yuen-woo-ping-picks-his-five-f http://hkmdb.com/db/people/view.mhtml?id=4267&display_set=eng

I’ll start and I’ll pick Philipp Kwok for a start. His work on the Bride white hair, Hard Boiled and Two Champions of Shaolin are favs. The warehouse scene in Hard boiled is priceless so is the final fight in flag of iron.

I think the two kings of action directing are Sammo Hung and Lau Kar Leung. Together, the two of them have countless kung fu classics. i'm not sure what their defining moments would be though. I suppose Sammo's choreography in Prodigal Son is considered some of his best.

Sammo Hung Kam-Bo is indeed legendary. Prodigal Son is for sure a great one. I have to admit that Knockabout is a fav of mine with odd couple and encounter of the spooky kind. I will add Yuen Wo-Ping to the kings of action directing though, Dreadnought and The Buddhist fist amazed me each time.

Lau Kar-Leung is definitely a legend with having some great kung fu in the fray. 36th Chamber of Shaolin is truly a classic.

Sammo of course makes great use of kicking experts like Casanova Wong, Tiger Yang, among others.

The late Robert Tai is also a great action director. He assisted with Five Deadly Venoms, helped launch the career of Alexander Lo Rei and the two had amazing collaborations together as action director-star in Taiwanese films.

I am a fan of Corey Yuen's earlier stuff, No Retreat No Surrender I & II, Fist of Fury 1991, and American Shaolin to name a few.

Tony Leung Siu-Hung boosted Seasonal Films' U.S. crossovers with No Retreat No Surrender 3, King of the Kickboxers, Superfights, and Bloodmoon. He choreographed awesome fights in that film.

On the Western front, Tim ManJ.J. Perry, Larnell Stovall, and Chad Stahelski come to mind who've done some excellent fight choreography.

Jackie Chan has constructed some fantastical pieces of choreography throughout his career.

Let's not forget Isaac Florentine who brought Scott Adkins' talent for bootwork to us.

And there's Koichi Sakamoto who choreographed Mark Dacascos in Drive and Johnny Yong Bosch in Wicked Game and Broken Path, as well as a ton of Power Rangers projects.

And of course, let's not forget Eric Jacobus who has choreographed and starred in some really sweet indie films and shorts.

Omigosh! When did he pass away? It's a shame that his Wu Tang Clan collaboration film never got released.

Ninja in the Dragon's Den; Yes, Madam!; and Righting Wrongs are among my favorites. I think his work became increasinly uneven after 2002's So Close.

I once did an investigation into the works of Lam Moon-Wah, best known for his minor classics Hero of Swallow, The Club, and Young Hero from Shaolin Part 2. Too bad his other films were a far cry from those movies.

I have always been and will always be a fan of Yuen Woo-Ping and his family (like Yuen Cheung-Yan and Yuen Shun-Yee). From earlier movies like Broken Oath and his John Liu/Hwang Jang Lee collaborations (Invincible Armour; Secret Rivals 2), to the Seasonal kung fu comedies (Drunken Master; Magnificent Butcher), to 80s/90s Donnie Yen collaborations (Iron Monkey; In the Line of Duty IV), to later films like Fearless, Unleashed, and True Legend, they've always been dependable action directors.

I would also add Tony Ching Siu-tung, who gave us some great modern day actions & wire works.
