Member AlbertV Posted February 7, 2019 Member Share Posted February 7, 2019 (edited) If you thought Nicolas Cage went crazy in Panos Cosmatos' Mandy, imagine what it could be like if he teams up with Sion Sono because it's happening! Cage and Sono will be joining forces on a horror film called Prisoners of the Ghostland. Sofia Boutella has signed on to co-star. Cage will play a notorious criminal ironcially named Hero, who is sent to rescue an abducted girl (Boutella) who disappeared into a dark supernatural universe. Together they must break the evil curse that binds them and escape the mysterious revenants that rule the Ghostland. The film was written by Aaron Hendry and Rezo Sixo Safai. The film will mark Japanese auteur Sono's English-language debut. https://bloody-disgusting.com/movie/3545394/green-room-star-imogen-poots-joins-nicolas-cage-crazy-ass-action-horror-film-prisoners-ghostland/ Edited December 7, 2021 by AlbertV

Member laagi Posted September 26, 2021 Member Share Posted September 26, 2021 This has some interesting concept art and does looks incredible at times. With a mix of east meets west and all the crazy color and characters it adds to the mix. That's unfortunately already it! If you're looking for some over the top violence you'll be sorely disappointed. Not to mention if you're looking for some action at all. Which only takes place in the last 20 minutes or so. The rest of the movie is a loose story with no real perspective. Again visually there's a lot of intersting ideas and characters but this would've probably worked better for a short film than a 100+ minutes feature. Nicolas Cage is alright for the most part. Although you can tell that once the action goes down he's heavily doubled. It's eye candy with no real taste. Could've been a lot better. As a concept interesting as a movie not really.

Member AlbertV Posted April 11, 2022 Author Member Share Posted April 11, 2022 This movie is absolutely insane! Nic Cage definitely is wild and crazy in this! Bill Moseley is fantastic as the Governor while we get to see Tak Sakaguchi as the samurai bodyguard of the Governor and in some action. In one of the craziest scenes ever... Spoiler When Hero attempts to revive the Governor's granddaughter, he wasn't supposed to touch her, and she forces his hand on her, causing Hero's testical to blow up and he grabs the blown-up nut from the floor before passing out! All around fun and chaos that only Sion Sono can pull off.
Member DarthKato Posted January 3, 2023 Member Share Posted January 3, 2023 This movie was alright, but defiantly fell short of other Nic Cage movies like "Willy's Wonderland" and "Mandy".
