Member Drunken Monk Posted January 31, 2019 Member Share Posted January 31, 2019 I'm not entirely sure I agree with the article but it's well researched and, granted, it has a pretty iron-clad argument for how the Wu influenced modern action cinema. Personally, I just think action in cinema evolves and while the Wu may have had a covert influences, I think Hollywood often looks to Hong Kong for inspiration. Good article. I like it more as a celebration of how kung fu movies were very much watched by black audiences back in the day. I believe that's an important part of the martial arts movie's origin story. The history of how Kung-Fu films made inroads into mainstream Hollywood have already been well documented; and Wu-Tang Clan had nothing to do with it, really. Well, not any more than the rest of us.
