Cagefighter is an upcoming film, a MMA/WWE sports drama to star Michael Jai White, Gina Gershon, Josh Herdman, Michelle Ryan, and Jason Maza.  "Pic revolves around mixed martial arts champion Reiss (Herdman) who unexpectedly loses a heavily promoted match.  A downward spiral sends him to the brink of losing his wife (Ryan) and his best friend and agent (Maza).  Deemed erratic and out of control, he alienates his long-time trainer (Jai White) and the biggest MMA promoter in the business (Gershon).  He must dig deep to find a path back to victory.  Writer-director is Jesse Quinones (Calloused Hands) who himself holds a black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.  Actor and MMA fighter Jai White holds black belts in eight different styles of martial arts and Herdman has experience as an amateur MMA fighter.  Cameos from the MMA world are due to include Anderson Silva, Georges St. Pierre, Alexander Gustafsson, Dan Hardy, and Tyron Woodly, among others."

The MMA sub-genre must still be really popular at the moment, there's a lot indepedent films based on it, and few bigger budget productions, such as Halle Berry's, self directed Bruised.

English actress Michelle Ryan(Cockney's & Zombies, T.V's Bionic Woman), has joined the cast, along with John Maza(Intergalactice Adenvtures of Max Cloud) and Josh Herman(Two Graves).

Jon Moxley, (fka Dean Ambrose, real name Jonathan Good) has joined the cast of Cagefighter. One of the executive producers of the film is Jay Reso, who many will know as WWE star Christian.

Looks like Micheal Jai White is no longer on board with this production?. New cast members include former WWE Wrestler Jay Reso(Edge) and ex UFC fighter Chuck Liddell.

MMA fighter and actor Alex Montagnani has replaced Michael Jai White in the lead role. The film is having a one-night premiere on the FITE channel on May 16.

I saw the film on New Year's Eve after buying the DVD. It's not that bad for a Canadian MMA drama. It's the story of a MMA fighter who had it all until losing his title to a pro wrestler. It's more drama than fighting as we see Reiss lose nearly everything after losing to Jon Moxley's Randy Stone. Jay "Christian" Reso plays the host of a MMA radio show. Chuck Liddell plays the main character's mentor/trainer. Gina Gershon's Max Black is more into what sells and just wait for the end credits...where she goes full-on Dana White LOL 

Not a completely bad film.
