looks like Charmaine Sheh is out because she’s busy and is replaced by Jiang Peiyao. The new film we can assume is a sequel in name only? And Andrew Lau is the director according to this article even though the concept poster said it was a Jazz Boon film

D'accord, mark187, LINE WALKER was a pretty decent film and Kar-Lok's action - especially the extended Brazilian set-piece - was already worth the price of admission. Now, I won't file a missing person's report for Miss Sheh - she was merely ok in THE LEAKERS and ALWAYS BE WITH YOU - but the choice of Andrew Lau as director is definitely a reason to keep your expectations as low as possible. The man's been involved in some truly pitiful Mainland drivel lately; matter of fact, just last week I was going to check out his latest, KUNG FU MONSTER, and while standing in the queue at the cinema watching the film's trailer on the screen above the cashier, I changed my mind and went to see CREED II for the second time instead !

According to Asian Film Strike, Jazz Boon is still the Director and Andrew Lau is only producing. I agree Sheng, although not among Chin’s best work, the sequence in Brazil was very solid. Out of what I’ve seen so far this year, he deserves the best action design award for Golden Job

Line Walker 2:  "The sequel film features Nick Cheung, Louis Koo, and Francis Ng as new characters, all plagued by a conspiracy that a triad had planted a mole within the police force... Line Walker 2: The Movie is the fourth installment to the Line Walker series, which was started as a television series produced by Jazz Boon in 2014.  The film sequel was released in 2016, followed by a prequel television series in 2017.  TVB has confirmed another television series, Line Walker 3, with the return of original cast member Raymond Lam."  From https://www.jaynestars.com/news/first-look-at-line-walker-2-the-movie/

Well Go USA picked up rights to Line Walker 2; Invisible Spy and had a North American limited theatrical release on August 16, 2019.   https://www.wellgousa.com/films/line-walker-2-invisible-spy-2019

Review of Line Walker 2 here - https://asianfilmstrike.com/2019/08/22/line-walker-2-invisible-spy-2019-review/

"Line Walker 2: Invisible Spy is a thematic sequel, with all narrative connections to the TV show now severed... Dispensing completely with the goofy interludes of the first film Invisible Spy is a deadly serious affair, packing its brisk 95-minute runtime to the brim with shootouts, tragedy, thunderous revelations, double-crosses and red herrings, to the point that one does wish it had lasted at least twenty more minutes, if only to allow the spectator to catch their breath... An early highlight is a superb gunfight in Burma, but the finale needs to be seen to be believed... Long Story Short: Ludicrous and grandiose yet thrilling and poignant, Line Walker 2: Invisible Spy plugs its plot holes with a magnificent trio of stars, assured and bombastic direction, and jaw-dropping action."

I got it back because I'd heard good things about it. maybe I got too much expectation. the story is pretty much already seen, but there's that old-school Hong Kong touch in the sentimental friendship between the characters. The action is unfortunately soiled by the ugly cgi that unfortunately rages in modern HK films. I'm reminded of Korean productions like The Berlin File and other similar titles, and the technical side of those films is always the best.
