wonder who is doing the action on these recent mainland china kung fu movies, because they don't have a clue in what they are doing , kung fu league is pretty bad as well.

Vincent Zhao is back again as Wong Fei Hung in Unity of Heroes 2. I thought the first one was one of the worst kung fu films of this year and, already, this trailer looks miles better. I'm still skeptical about that choppy editing though.

Damn, for a second there, I thought that I was watching a trailer for OUATIC 2. Not only is the choreography not that great, but, there seems to be almost a shot-by-shot ripoff. Sorry, I would rather watch those Jet Li films and call it a day.

https://asianfilmstrike.com/2019/04/09/the-unity-of-heroes-2-2018-review/  Review by LP Hugo of Unity of Heroes 2, excerpts - "While the story has nothing memorable or thrilling, Mak has the good sense to keep action scenes plentiful - much more than in the previous film.  And though some of the wobbly camera movies, instances of shots re-used within the same fight and occasional clumsy wirework betray the film's modest budget, there's still passable fighting on hand, including a touch novelty for a Wong Fei Hong film, as Vincent Zhao fights a roomful of Sumotori (over too soon)... And the humour is amusing in a mildly lowbrow way... Long Story Short;  Vincent Zhao's pleasant but uneventful return to his signature interim role continues with The Unity of Heroes 2, a poorly-written but fight-heavy slice of old school Hong Kong-style entertainment. **1/2"

I didn't think this one was a whole lot better than 'Unity of Heroes'.  Check out the full review treatment over at COF -

Oh balls. I hoped the sequel would be better. I’ll still give it a whirl. Support the genre and all that.

If anything this movie serves to show that the golden era of kung fu cinema is probably over. I will never understand why a production with (obvious) limited budget can't focus on the strength that helped shape these very type of movies. I won't even mind a braindead plot as long as the action, costumes and set pieces deliver. Unfortunately Warriors of the Nation pretty much fails at all of these. The CGI is some of the worst I've seen in recent times. Why even bother to use it when it adds zero value to the production. I even thought if they would've just left out those "epic" cut scenes the movie would've fared better. I won't go into plot as it's something we've all seen a thousand times by now. The action is so badly shot, that it's obvious a strike or kick isn't even close to the target. Speaking of which the scenes are laughably bad choreographed. And this might just be me but some of the weapons looked like cardboard cut outs. All in all this movie tried to be something which from the get go it couldn't achieve. If the director or production would have handled the budget short comings in a professional way I'm sure it would've been more enjoyable. As it stands I recommend you watch OUATIC II instead as it has a similar plot but is by far the superior movie!
