Member whitesnake Posted November 30, 2018 Author Member Share Posted November 30, 2018 (edited) The South Korean film, Unstoppable, gets a limited North American theatrical release today, November 30, 2018. The theaters where it is playing are listed at the bottom of - http://www.wellgousa.com/films/unstoppable Unstoppable was reviewed yesterday - https://filmcombatsyndicate.com/don-lees-particular-set-of-skills-in-unstoppable-sustain-him-as-an-action-star-contender/ "Champion and Along With the Gods: The Last 49 Days actor Don Lee is probably the best surprise that not a lot of Westerners yet see coming. I'm curious if major studios in Hollywood are willing to look past their own penchants to test this theory for someone who has been in the game for up to thirteen years in film and television, and has since garnered some notoriety in the past two years as a sizeable screen talent in his time. In the meantime, it's worth noting that the audience Lee has grown for himself, specifically since his praiseworthy performance in the zombie hit thriller, Train to Busan... Dong-Chul's past as a notorious gangster isn't really put on focus at any real point in the film. Offered in just a few passing mentions, it's enough the rouse the senses as we watch our formerly reformed yesteryear thug go from quiet, domesticated husband and day laborer to a full-on f****** beast on a mission to rescue the woman he loves... Armed with the sheer will of an Asian bodybuilding Liam Neeson, Lee's gangbuster fight finale, in particular, is the film's biggest takeaway on the action front with his character laying waste to Ki-tae's men singlehandedly. The action is peppered with a few stunning surprises... Ample drama and healthy, well-balanced character development give way for our hero to hit the gas in Unstoppable, with riveting high-speed chases and enthralling, body-slamming fight scene action as the cherry on top to for Lee's latest and deserving return to the big screen." Member laagi Posted January 12, 2019 Member Share Posted January 12, 2019 (edited) If you would go strictly by the title and the synopsis one could easily come to the conclusion that you're in for one hell of a ride... I mean come on Don Lee's nickname is bull in the movie. Unfortunately it becomes clear very early on in the movie that this might not be the case by a long shot. It's really more of a action comedy and this sounds really wrong. Since subject matters include human trafficking and illegal organ trade. I don't know it seems to me the director had difficulties deciding which "direction" (no pun intended) to take with the movie. But with all this aside the biggest letdown is the action... It's few and far between. And everytime the action finally hits it looks like it got stuck in first gear. Don't get me wrong Don throws some nice punches but with his capabilities it's just lacking. I'm not blaming this on him. To be honest thanks to him this movie is probably still enjoyable for the majority of people. Ultimately a let down and it looks like this "bull" had his balls removed before he got in full rage mode! Recommended for fans only and if you really need a quick whilst short action fix. Member laagi Posted September 16, 2021 Member Share Posted September 16, 2021 (edited) I just got thru watching the chinese remake. Which surprisingly wasn't all that bad. Sure Wu Yue doesn't carry the same charisma as Don Lee. This is apparent in the sheer difference of physical appearance. Nevertheless he does a pretty good job. The action is also quite alright, although hastly cut for the most part. Probably an overall unnecessary remake that one could still find themselves enjoying.
