However, it will take place during Pennyworth's younger days when he formed a security company after his British SAS days where he meets Thomas Wayne in 1960's London. Jack Bannon has scored the role of the young Alfred Pennyworth. Member Drunken Monk Posted February 8, 2019 Member Share Posted February 8, 2019 The creator of this show recently spoke out in an interview and said Pennyworth will be very much R-rated. It'll also see Alfred going up against the likes of the descendant of Jack the Ripper (a nod to Gotham By Gaslight?). Test audiences have said it feels nothing like a DC show as it's en entirely different universe from what people are expecting (an alternate London). And there are no Batman connections whatsoever.
