Member whitesnake Posted October 5, 2018 Member Share Posted October 5, 2018 Yaru Onna: She's a Killer is a new Japanese action thriller opening there on October 27, 2018. "When Aiko was a child, she witnessed her family being murdered. As a result, when she grew up she became an assassin." She remembered that the killer "had a scorpion tattoo. One day, when she is punishing a drug dealer, she found a Kaga's scorpion tattoo." Then she discovered that the killer "is also an orphan, and has a blind daughter". Yaru Onna is written and directed by Miyano Keiji, the screenwriter and director for The Total Number of 3000 Juvenile Delinquents and Yumeji: A Spurt of Love. Aiko is played by Kang Ji-young (Assassination Classroom). The cast also includes Joe Hyuga (Busjack Returns), Rina Takeda (Karate Girl), Izaki Yusuke (Crows Zero), Jake Zyrus (Here Comes the Boom), Suruga Taro (Sanada 10 Braves), and Atom Mizuishi (Fullmetal Alchemist). Yaru Onna had its world premiere at the 23rd Bucheon [South Korea] International Fantastic Film Festival (BiFan) in July 2018. From the BiFan program notes - "This film is rare for these days since it is sincere and tragic. The setting of a solitary killer that has become a murder machine with past trauma is typical, but the pleasures of this film genre's customs cannot be ignored. It is impressive that Ji-young's performance is consistent without an expression until she finally explodes." From http://moviehooker.com/lists/asian-movies-new/ - "This really doesn't sound like anything new. In its defense: it is Asian which means it's probably going to be way more slicker and brutal than any John Wick or similar type Hollywood movie."
