You can check out the HD version on Hi-Yah streaming service. It looks pretty good to me with the film grain intact.

That's hilarious.  I can't help but wonder if that was an obscure influence on this?

 

 

 

So - how did that even happen?  First draft of the translation just assumed that any martial art may as well be called "Kung Fu"... then suddenly they're told that they got the title of the movie wrong, and need to fix things.  Not enough money, couldn't find the original actors.  So they got two men and one woman to say the word "Hapkido" once each and spliced it in seamlessly.  At least, that's how I imagine it.  I'd watch a whole mini-documentary on the origin of that dub.

My guess is it's the footage of Ji Han Jae training the actors. I've seen snippets of that over the years.

Can anyone offer a comparison for The Shaolin Plot? Never seen it or know anything about it. I am a big Sammo fan, but with the amount of amazing releases we have been getting, it's hitting the wallet hard. Basically I need excuse to buy it lol
