It had some exciting action. I felt like it was very well put together in general too.

They have it on YouTube too! The only downside is that the subtitles are a bit difficult to read at times, but it’s a very good movie in my opinion! 35 minutes ago, ShawAngela said: I love this picture too, it's an unusual one in comparison to what we are used to see ! I really like it because Lu Feng feels more mischievous and comedic in this role in comparison to a lot of the other characters he’s portrayed! It was a big surprise for me when I first watched it, but in a good way. I had seen their characters most commonly described as the god of chopsticks and the god of bowls when I first heard of it, which is initially one of the things that drew me to the movie, aside from who was in it. I'm quite glad that I watched it, and I've probably seen it at least six times by now! Edited May 14, 2022 by venomsreviews

I don’t know what it is, but there was something about the film that felt off to me. I had a similar experience with 'Ninja Condors' when I first tried to watch it in the mid-00's, and didn't make it past the first few mins (I included it as one of my entries in the 'Fu Flicks You Couldn't Make it to the End Of' thread). However these days I'm more attuned to 80's Taiwanese ninja madness, and have come to love it for what it is. Definitely not a production to watch for Lu Feng fans though, as he barely clocks in 2 minutes of inconsequential screen-time and it's the opening scene. I gave it the full review treatment over at COF last year, which you can check out via the link.
Member venomsreviews Posted May 19, 2022 Member Share Posted May 19, 2022 (edited) I was originally just going to share pictures but I thought I’d put this here too! Apparently, the focus was initially put on Lu Feng’s singing as opposed to tumbling when he was at the opera school because his voice was loud. However, when he was about 15 or 16, he no longer kept his child voice (in his words) and it wasn’t as clear as it used to be. This is what led him to shift his attention to focusing on his martial arts, weapons skills, and tumbling! He said it was so he could be a martial arts actor and that he loved using weapons. I remember that I was very fascinated when I read that in the interview when I first found it because it wasn’t too long after I became a fan of his Edited May 19, 2022 by venomsreviews

Member venomsreviews Posted May 24, 2022 Member Share Posted May 24, 2022 I was debating which thread to put this on, but since it came from Lu Feng, I decided to put it here. To start off, I just wanted to clarify that Lu Feng said none of this was personal. According to Lu Feng, there was a work-related dispute over using the snake style that Leung Ting decided to create for Five Deadly Venoms (1978) instead of the traditional Snake Fist. It was both of their first times as martial arts directors (as he mentioned in the interview). The right hand was going to be the head of the snake and the left would be the tail. Everyone was in opposition to this design because no one was familiar with that style, and if they stuck with the traditional snake fist, Five Deadly Venoms would have come out before Snake in the Eagle’s Shadow (1978). However, he said Chang Cheh wanted to use the snake technique that had been created for the film. That style was never used again, but as Lu Feng said, it did establish Five Deadly Venoms as being unique! 4

Member venomsreviews Posted June 6, 2022 Member Share Posted June 6, 2022 I really like how Lu Feng said they decided on what weapons to use in Flag of Iron (1980). Him, Kuo Chui, Chiang Sheng, and Chang Cheh saw them used in a peking opera performance. They thought the way the flag moved and spun around was beautiful, so they decided to add spearheads on the end of it! The main reason being that you couldn’t necessarily attack people with flags otherwise.
Member Chu Liu Hsiang Posted June 7, 2022 Member Share Posted June 7, 2022 So important to keep one's eyes open for inspiration! Some years ago I happened to see a flag throwing performance and was rather amazed to see there is much more to it than just waving around a piece of cloth.
Member venomsreviews Posted June 25, 2022 Member Share Posted June 25, 2022 (edited) These are screenshots I took while I was watching the series 《飛燕驚龍》. I’ve seen it called Flying Swallow Frightens Dragon, so that may be the English name. Edited June 25, 2022 by venomsreviews

This is from The Twelve Fairies, which was a very interesting movie! He wasn’t in the movie for very long, though. It also has Yang Hsiung in it! I enjoyed it even though I was surprised throughout the whole thing since I didn’t know what it was about. (https://hkmdb.com/db/movies/view.mhtml?id=11207&display_set=eng) This is him with Chiang Sheng in Fight Among the Supers. I loved this movie a lot! Both of them were a lot of fun in this one! I don’t remember why but I stopped watching Ninja Condors after I took some screenshots of him so I need to finish it. This was a bad film. Glad Lu Feng was only in it at the beginning.
