Knuckle Up (Question)

Bruce Lee's calloused knuckles have often been the talk of many fan conversations/dicussion's. When you look into the bigger world of Martial Art's as a whole, they are nothing exceptional, and that's not a put down. Anyway, before I go off on a ramble here's my question, Lee must have changed his approach to training by the time he got to Hong Kong. We know he never had a set program. You never see his knuckles look the way they did in the late sixties, while he was in H.K. He was still training hard, but he had clearly changed some of his approaches. Was this just an aesthetic thing, with him making movies, or was he training his hands differently by the early 70's.

His training methods were constantly changing. When he hit Hong Kong and was busy making movies he was training a lot less than he was back in the states in the 60's.

Choreographing the fights, would have been a work-out in itself, and it doesnt matter how skilled/talent you are. The more you take on, the more you have to divide your time up.

Sometimes wonder how good as Martial Artist he would have been, minus the back injury and film career. If he only had one thing to focus on, rather than multipe things to handle, such as seeking fame and fortune etc.

Yeah that's the thing. With all the filmmaking, promotional and press related work, riding the train to superstardom he didn't have the time to dedicate to his training like he did in the 60's where he was completely obsessed by it.

With some of his physical martial arts training he wouldn't be having to hammer it like he had done previously as he would have already ingrained it in his neuro system through all the repetitive training he had done.

He was experimenting a lot with training his senses especially his visual awareness and perception so there's every chance his capabilities as a fighter were even greater in the 70's than in the 60's. Who knows. One thing is certain and that's that during the period of making Way of The Dragon he was in the best and healthiest physical shape of his life.

You can clearly see the diffrence in bodyweight between the two pictures, the often talked about topic of his physical look. Just see how much smaller his hands are in the second image?. The hands are the first place to display signs of weight gain, and the last place to display signs of weight loss. While he was eating better in the states, and putting more time in training. His actual fist size was much bigger, though still small.
