9 Satra: The Legend of Muay Thai is an animated feature film that opened in Thailand in January 2018 and became a major hit there.  Plot synopsis loosely from IMDB - With General Paan's last hope to take back Ramthep City, which is now occupied by Asura (demonic Yakshas), the general's ward, Ott, was trained in the martial art of Muay Thai for the mission of delivering 9 Satra, a sacred weapon (a metal charm that represents the spirit of Muay Thai), to the Prince of Ramthep.  As Ott began his journey to the city of Ramthep, he became friends with a pirate girl named Xiaolan, Red Asura, and Vata, the prince of monkeys.  This summer, 9 Satra is getting an international release, in China, Australia, New Zealand, Vietnam, Indonesia, and South America, so far.  Info from https://variety.com/2018/film/asia/thai-animation-9-satra-china-release-1202845938/   Article with more background - https://bonutzuu.wordpress.com/2018/01/21/the-legend-of-muay-thai-9-satra-review-a-brief-history-of-thai-animation/

This would be Krut:  The Himmaphan Warriors (Garuda Mahindra Himmaphan), getting a Thai release on July 19, 2018.  This animated feature is briefly mentioned in the Variety article about 9 Satra.  Plot - "With a story before mankind.  In the period when animals in Himmapan forest battle the kingdom at the city of Ayutthaya where Phraya Vajra Garuda is a military to protect the city was rooted wild fierce troops raised many to the city.  Phaya Vajira Garuda And Garuda's loyal soldiers. Have to hit the break across the black color. To ask for help from the barbarian animals in the Himmapan forest, such as Kodchasri, Norasingh, as well as the antediluvian antagonists. To the city of Ayothaya. Make war between races."  Translated from Thai via Internet.  I found another Slot Machine music video, for The Land of Himmaphan.  Pretty song, but the animation sequences are not from The Himmaphan Warriors.

Krut looks much better than 9 Satra. Satra looks like a modern Disney film; and, I don’t mean that in a good way.

There's a very good reason for the way 9 Satra looks.  "Thai animated movies in the past face crippling deficit as a result of high costs and niche market.  Animated movies are seen as something 'for children' and the only people who watch them are parents with children... Thai animators saw better use of their skills abroad, where there is a market and money to be made."  The budget for 9 Satra was 230 million baht, but while it was a hit in Thailand, it made back only 100 million baht (3.1 USD).  Without an international look and an international market, the Thai company, Exformat Films, would have lost a lot of money.  As Phusanat (9 Satra is his brainchild) said, "It's not easy to blend Thainess and international style and both our teams, local and international, worked closely to share ideas and concepts so that the film would not just attract a domestic audience but also animation fans all over the world."  M Pictures, which is handling the distribution for 9 Satra, "has high hopes that its next animated picture [Krut] will be able to capitalize on the breakthrough achieved by 9 Satra."  Info from http://www.nationmultimedia.com/detail/movie/30336023 and   https://variety.com/2018/film/asia/thai-animation-9-satra-china-release-1202845938/  and https://bonutzuu.wordpress.com/2018/01/21/the-legend-of-muay-thai-9-satra-review-a-brief-history-of-thai-animation/

According to Wikipedia, Himavanta (or Himmaphan in Thai) "is a legendary forest which surrounds the base of Mount Meru in Hindu mythology."  Here's the teaser (all action, no talk) for Krut: The Himmaphan Warriors. -
