Was Hero (2002) a Hong Kong or mainland China production?

I've searched everywhere for this information but the sources seem to be contradicting each other.

IMDb says both, HKMDB says Mainland China, and wikipedia says Hong Kong.

 

Anyone knows?

It's a Hong Kong/China co-production. One of the big finance companies (Sil-Metropole Organisation Ltd) that backed the movie is based in Hong Kong, with the other (China Film Co-Production Corp) being based in Mainland China.

You can best believe that the PRC approved the script. Everyone makes sacrifices so some emperor can lord it over everyone for a "united" China. United under a series of tyrants.
