Member NoKUNGFUforYU Posted August 3, 2018 Author Member Share Posted August 3, 2018 In case you try to ask to copy these films, etc, do not waste your time. They are very concerned with copyright, as the could not exist if it ever got out that they were involved in piracy. If you ever plan to see them on the editing machine (it has sound) you need to contact several months ahead. They must get them out of storage, etc. At the end of the day, flying to Hong Kong may be easier and watch a few VHS or rarities. "The issue is not with the scanning, we have a high end scanner here. It’s a matter of the labor that goes into preparing and selecting films for digitization, and as I mentioned our focus is not currently on feature films in the collection as they are being safely preserved in our cold storage vaults and are available for onsite viewing and loan to other FIAF archives and cinematheques. Many film enthusiasts seem unfortunately unaware of the extremely limited resources that most US-based film archives operate under. I wish it was more well understood!
