Millennium Films is lining up further assassination hijinks with a sequel to its 2017 hit The Hitman's Bodyguard.

Titled The Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard, the film is being touted on posters in Cannes, alongside other major franchise titles "coming soon" from the action specialists, including Angel Has Fallen, The Expendables 4, Rambo V and Mechanic 3.

While no script is yet available, The Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard is described in the Cannes market catalog as "The Good. The Bad. And the Batshit cray." Ryan Reynolds and Samuel L. Jackson are believed to be reprising their roles, although the casting hasn't been confirmed, while Patrick Hughes is thought to be returning to the director's chair. Tom O'Connor – who wrote the original and has one of Cannes' hot market titles in his Cold War spy thriller Ironbark, with Benedict Cumberbatch attached to star – is working on the follow-up.

The 2017 original — starring Reynolds and Jackson, alongside Gary Oldman and Salma Hayek — became a global smash, topping the U.S. box office for three straight weeks and earning an overall haul of $177 million from a $30 million budget.

Filming is set to begin in March. Patrick Hughes is returning to direct and Tom O'Connor wrote the script (he also wrote the original) and the film will bring back Ryan Reynolds, Samuel L. Jackson and Salma Hayek. Frank Grillo is joining the cast as a Interpol agent who hires the trio to help stop a cyber attack in Europe.

Curious about that myself. I kinda wanted to see it, but the language seemed off the chain to me. As much as I love the Deadpool movies, even the language in them rankles my sensibilities at times.

The first one is surprisingly good. There are some unnecessarily nasty bits, but Reynolds and Jackson are hilarious together and the stunt driven action is way above modern day standards (except for the end where they go the CGI route).

I absolutely love this trailer (probably better not watch if you haven't seen the film).

And this poster cracks me up

I saw this today. Nobody asked for it. The actors didn't need to make it. You'll forget it the second you're out of the cinema. But while you're watching it? You'll have a lot of fun. The action is nothing spectacular. A few fight scenes but nothing memorable. Antonio Bandaras has possibly the blandest role of his career.  The only reason to see it is the chemistry between Ryan Reynolds and Samuel L. Jackson.

This was just your average action comedy with average, uninspired action, the comedy hitting the right spots only slightly better resulting in a few lol moments. Doesn't match up with the first one, Ryan Reynolds is irritating, Frank Grillo didn't get to shine, Banderas and Freeman have all but memorable roles, though it's strange seeing Freeman being this mean and menacing. For a Hollywood movie, the CGI is just horrendous.
