Thanks a lot for sharing this interview!

Such a pity that we can't see more of these documentaries in their full length!

It's always a pleasure to see David Chiang, Chen Kuan Tai, Lily Ho and the others when they were young!

I also spotted Ching Miao, who seemed to direct a scene with David Chiang and an actress, and it also seems to me that I spotted Lily Li in the training scene...

Run Run Shaw looks like a kind person in this interview...

When asked what she thinks about kung fu, Lily Ho says, she thinks it's bad for the education but does not want to say more, to avoid trouble with the boss :D Thanks for sharing!

After watching, I found these in the yt suggestions.

Parts 2, 3 and 4 are also on the channel.

Part 2 is also on the channel.

In depth article about Shaw Brothers Studios, along with some rarely seen pictures.

Shaw Studio, Hong Kong

Link- https://about.shaw.sg/13-studioshk.html

Quote

The Shaws hit the ground running. Work on 6 sound stages commenced immediately on 650,000 sq ft of land that was cleared for that purpose. By 1958, with construction still going on, the make-shift studios managed to produced its first movie.

When the first two sound stages were completed on November 1960, the light comedy 'All the Best' starring Peter Chen Ho opposite a bevy of starlets was shot. By the fall of 1961, two more sound stages were operational, including the multi-storey administrative building (which eventually spread over five blocks), staff dormitory, film editing, film processing, sound recording and dubbing rooms.

On the photos, from top to bottom and from right to left, here are the actors/actresses, I recognized :

Chiao Chiao (not sure)- ?- Essie Lin Chia- Yang Fang- Pan Ying Zi- Lo Lieh- ?

The actress above Lo Lieh looks like Tien Ni or Li Ching. Does anyone can confirm ?

Wang Hsieh- Kwan Shan (not sure)- Yueh Hua -Ling Po- ? -Tsung Hua

I don't recognize any of the girls on the eight following photos, if anyone can help to fill the ? and name them, it would be great...

Ho Fan (何藩 ) had a career in the movie industrie: In and outside the Shaw Studios, in front of the camera as well as on the director's chair. However, his true calling was street photography. He won his first award as a teenager, nowadays his works are shown in museums and collections all over the world.

Lots of info and fascinating Hong Kong photos on his trust estate website https://fanho-forgetmenot.com/about and https://bluelotus-gallery.com/#/ho-fan-1/

Article on occasion of an exhibition of his works in 2017 http://www.ejinsight.com/20170623-chasing-shadows-in-bygone-hong-kong/

I don't think the one above Lo Lieh is Tien Ni

Pretty sure the one between Ivy Ling Po and Tsung Hua is Tang Ching

The picture on the bottom looks alot like Shu Pei Pei.

The one in the middle with ballons could be Ching Li, but it is too blurry for me to be sure, but it has a Ching Li vibe.

Yes, Tang Ching, you are right !

And the one I took for Tien Ni, could it be Li Ching ?

And I wonder if the one on the left side of the one with the ballons could be Fung Bo Bo...

The Million Eyes of Sumuru (Shaw Brothers, 1967)

Quote

As it is, the two “heroes” — quotes definitely intended — are secret agents Tommy Carter (Frankie Avalon) and Nick West (George Nader), who are whirled out of China to Italy (where West is framed for the murder of a woman he’s never seen before but whose corpse is dumped in his hotel room by Sumuru’s minions as a way of getting him to participate in one of his diabolical “experiments”) and then back to Hong Kong, where the bulk of this movie was filmed at the Shaw Brothers’ studio.

I don't remember if I have it as a DVD or as a book or in both formats, but I know that I have Million eyes of Sumuru somewhere in my collection.

And if I remember well, Bayangan Ajal is the Malay version of Summons to death.

It begs the question that if Bruce lee had chosen SB over GH in 1970, would Run Run Shaw have ceased movie production in the mid-80s? Also, would Shaw have been open about doing a collaboration that resulted in Enter the Dragon?

I've often wondered what Hollywood thought about Shaw's Movie News magazine publicizing their actors like George Peppard in the April '67 issue and William Holden in the July '77 issue. I was quite surprised to see an advertisement of a GH production in the December '73 issue: Enter the Dragon. Speaking of December, William Holden could be seen reading the December '62 issue in the February '63 issue.
