Picked up this William Yen movie packaged as The Story Of Shaolin, as part of RBFs bootleg Magnificent Dragons Movie Collection. Now I've looked at all his movies over at HKMDB, but none of them have this title or alias. I'm sure the titles listed on the HKMDB, but just under a title I don't know of.

Here's the DVD cover synopsis, but with no referances to the actual plot, which really helps matters.

Quote

William Yen learned Shaolin Kung Fu at the age of five, specialising in somersaulting, jumping, and 'Plum Fighting' skill's. He can somesault ten times with his hands touching the ground and leap fifty times without pause. Also starring in Shaolin VS Lama and Shaolin VS Ninja, this is his first leading role

Anyone else here pick up this release?.

What are the movies included with the package in question?

It's one movie dude, a single disc release, with the one feature.

I think the confusion has come from the fact that the Magnificent Dragons Movie Collection is the name of the label, rather than a boxset (which it definitely sounds like!).

After year of this title sitting on the shelf, I decided to watch it over the weekend. Only it turned out to be one dud of a DVD, poorly authored bootleg DVD's, I'm just glad I didnt pay a lot for this. Sarted out as Shaolin VS Ninja, then the audio dropped out, and it cut to the start of Shaolin VS Lama. Having not watchng SVL for awhile, I thought I;d stick with it, only the DVD returned to the menu after only a handful of scenes. Everytime the disc got to the scene where we are introduced to the old master, it would just jump back to the main menu. So I gave up on any Kung Fu and put a documentaryon instead.

I actually have this as a Hollywood East DVD, same cover! Bought this about 15 years ago and the disc has major problems as well!

I remember watching the Hollywood East version during a holiday in Wales, in July 2009. I seem to remember SVN playing. Then a mute trailer played, maybe it was for SVL then? After the trailer, SVN seemed to play fine for me, though it did have the nunchaku scenes removed (James Ferman's censorship legacy lives on). I remember enjoying it at the time actually. It's probably the first shape that made me think the indies (non-SB, GH Seasonal) are pretty good, though weirdly I've never been able to get into the movie again after that first time.

Thought I'd just picked up a bad 2nds hand copy, but it looks like they were all faulty from the start.

I wouldnt seek these old bootleg releases out, but if its a title I havent seen, and going cheap, Ill pick it up.
