Member AlbertV Posted March 30, 2018 Member Share Posted March 30, 2018 Mark Hicks is a renowned actor, martial artist, and stunt performer who is perhaps best known for his doubling Chris Tucker in the Rush Hour films and a famous viral clip known to this day as "Afro Ninja". In the clip, Hicks, sporting an afro wig, and holding a pair of nunchakus, fails on a backflip. The viral video led Hicks to appear as that character and redo the failed stunt in Weezer's "Pork and Beans" music video. The clip also led Hicks to write, produce, direct, and star in a feature-length film, Afro Ninja: Destiny, made in 2008 but released on DVD in 2013. Hicks is a 6th-degree Black Belt in Taekwondo and is the Founder/CEO of his own stunt company, Stunts Supreme. Mark made his film debut in front of the cameras in Jun Chong's 1985 film L.A. Street Fighters as Mark, one of the members of Chong's high school gang. He appeared as FBI agent Ross Tucker in Benny Chan's Gen-Y Cops in 2000, where he got to fight a pre-Ant Man Paul Rudd (who was doubled for the more complicated kicks by Ron Smoorenburg) in the climactic action scene. He has doubled for the likes of Michael Jai White, Ice Cube, and Cuba Gooding Jr. to name a few.
Member morpheus Posted January 2, 2021 Member Share Posted January 2, 2021 Mark Hicks actually recovered from that silly incident, was given another chance and nailed it on the second try.
